Okay, aside from the obvious of keeping your car in a garage (which is a wonderful idea if you have one), is there a trick to keeping ice off the windshield as well as the doors of the car? One of my least favorite things to do at any time of the year is scraping my windshield of ice and trying (sometimes unsuccessfully) to get into my car welded shut by ice.
I'm thinking there has to be trick, but I haven't figured it out yet...

Maybe I'm the only one who has noticed this, maybe not, but are the leaves on the trees already making their autumnal transition? I have noticed the leaves turning mainly yellow, but I've spotted a few trees with red leaves starting. At first, I thought it had something to do with the flooding, but I've seen the color in non-flooded areas. Are we going to have some early overall color this year, or am I just imagining things?

Hey, weather guys (and gals).
I noticed on Dave's spring forecast he originally called for normal to below normal rainfall, but obviously, we got more rain that most of us bargained for. I'm kind of wondering if this wet pattern might continue well into May and perhaps June. Is it safe to say that we are out of the drought pattern now? What will this mean for certain crops such as apples, pumpkins, tomatoes, grapes, etc.? Do you think that this will continue into autumn? I believe I read somewhere that a wetter autumn equals better fall colors. I know last autumn was dry but a rain at the right time really brought out the beauty of the season.
It has been an interesting year so far. Dave was right on with the temperatures, though the vegetation did get a slightly later start than normal. What weather patterns made March so darn wet, Dave?

I'm getting married this coming Saturday. I've heard everything from partly cloudy skies to possible rain. I'm not so concerned about the temperature -- I know it will be in the 50s. But, what is the likelihood of precip, Dave?

Okay, I know I'm WAY early on this question, but I was just curious. When is the earliest date we can plant outdoor plants? And, also, when is the earliest we can set out house plants? I'd always heard April 15th for outdoor plants, but I'm unsure on house plants.
Thanks!

Flurrying here, but we got a pretty big squall for about an hour, AFTER it was supposed to have quit. Here in South County, it looks to be about 4 or 5 inches, so not as bad as some of you have got. I haven't left the apartment since yesterday, so I'm going crazy!

It is still flurrying outside at 1pm, and an eyeball estimate is at about 3 inches of snow. I hear that other areas were not so lucky.
My parents just got back from Florida last night. I keep telling them that really, really, it was 80 degrees just 2 days ago.
I want some nice weather for my wedding. Any wild guesses what it will be doing on Saturday March 22nd???

I thought I was hallucinated when I woke up this morning and saw a winter wonderland out there... did I miss the memo? I mean, it is very pretty, but I thought we were supposed to have a repeat from yesterday only warmer. Any chance the clouds will at least go away?

I have a couple of comments on internet dating. The piece Fox2 had on internet dating only looked at the sites you have to pay -- eharmony and match.com are pretty expensive. But, what about the free sites?
I met my fiancee (we are getting married a month from today) on plentyoffish.com. Almost 2 years ago, I was at a point where I was ready to give up on dating. I had just gotten out of a very bad relationship, and I was giving dating one last chance.
I went onto eharmony.com (I didn't try match.com, although a friend of mine likes it), and I paid close to 200 dollars for 6 months. The people I was matched up were not good matches for me, and I was only matched up with about 20 or so people during those 6 months. At the same time, I got onto plentyoffish.com, which is 100% free. I had been on this site years ago, and I decided to give it a second chance. A couple of months after dating about a dozen or so people and talking to dozens more, I met a wonderful man who asked me to marry him 6 months after the first date.
Don't forget about the free sites, guys. Some of them are better than others, but they are worth exploring if you are serious about finding your true love.
As for internet safety, yes, you have to be a little more careful on the free sites, but I encountered some wackos on eharmony as well. No matter where you meet someone, you have to meet in a public place at first and trust your instincts.
I found the love of my life on a freebe site. If I had just stuck with eharmony or went with match.com, I would never have found him.

I don't think I'm alone in wanting to curl up and hibernate. Any chance we'll see some spring time temperatures here in the next month or so?

I'm having a very hard time finding the quiz question regarding the stem cell amendment. I've looked everywhere, and I can't find a link or anything. Can anyone help?

I don't think I'm alone in wondering what the weather will send out way Thursday and Friday. I'm hearing everything ranging from a little freezing rain and flurries to a major ice storm and high snow accumulations. For me, that would make a difference between showing up to work on Thursday and deciding to stay home on Thursday. If the weather people are way off by underestimating snow amounts, I could be stuck at work overnight and staying at a hotel!
I know the meteorologists want to be careful and not overpredict, yet they also don't want to underpredict. I know it is a very inexact science, yet I don't remember there being half the number of prediction problems while I was growing up. Weather guy or gal perdicted snowstorm with X number of inches. Usually they were off by one or two inches at most. Have weather patterns changed that much in 20 years that it has made predicting the weather much more difficult?
I'm just curious, because I don't want to be stranded. I can handle a little bit of bad weather, but if the roads are going to be trecherous and make my 1/2 hour commute into a 2 to 3 hour commute, then I would like to know before I actually hit the road on Thursday morning.
Thanks, guys!

On MSN, they asked the question: what do you fear? The main topic was all the various odd types of phobias, things I'd have to really concentrate on in order to pronounce.
I personally don't have a fear of spiders, but I am afraid of brown recluse spiders and being bitten by one. I'm also afraid of dying some horrible death either by murder or disease. I'm also not too wild about wasps or bees, though I don't freak out unless they look like they are coming after me. I also used to have a very strong fear of tornadoes.
It just seemed like an interesting topic of conversation.

Glen,
I am not sure if you were aware of this weather-themed song or not, since I've never heard it played in the morning. It is called "It's Cold Outside" or something like that, and it is by the group "Choir." I heard it on the way to work on the 60s station on XM radio. I thought it might be a good song for a cold autumn morning.

Ever since early August of last year, I've kept a hand-written "weather diary." In it I keep track of temperature, rain, cloud cover, and nation-wide weather that may affect St. Louis weather. I also keep track of record highs and lows, "odd" weather events that pop up, and what plants are in bloom and at what point the fall colors are reaching their peak.
I've only kept this for a year, but it is fun looking back a year ago to see what the weather was doing according to my own observations. Last year, the first killing frost wasn't until late November, but the first frost was in late October, just before Halloween. The first frost will be a little earlier this year, but this is month we usually see the flip from summer to autumn.
Anyway, do you think keeping a weather diary is just plain geeky or cool?
