How strange is it to see Jim Edmonds in a Cubby uniform?...Quite strange to me....though that is the nature of the game...#15 will always be a Cardinal favorite!

Yeah, it does seem strange but he's worn a variety of uniforms. It's amazing how one can be unemployed and still make $8 million in 2008. He also got nearly $300,000 to play for the Cubbies. So he'll end up making $8.4 million and been unemployed (not signed), fired, and playing for 2 teams all in one season.

I've been a big Edmonds fan since he started with the Cardinals. It was sad to see him go to the Padres but I knew he wouldn't play forever and maybe a trade was a step at letting go. I cringe when I see him in that Cubs uniform, but I will always remember his amazing defensive plays as a Cardinal. I don't feel he'll have the same relationship in Chicago that he had in St. Louis. I'll give a cheer for him the first time he runs out at Busch in that blue uniform.

Wassup AH - I agree on Edmonds with the relationships in St. Louis. It seems that most players always brag that St. Louis has the best fans and also great teammates.

Now the positive note for Jimmy is he left a losing team for a team that has come from the cellar and now leads the NL Central!

The bad thing though for him in Chicago is - he'll never have those above (past) the wall homerun steals because there is fencing up there.

edmonds gave us a lot of thrills over the years and i am sure he will get a very nice standing ovation, the first time back to st.louis, just because fo the best fans in baseball, and i am sure he knows how lucky he is to have played for such a winning franchise all those years, and has many great memories of post season and world series play, which he would have never experienced in chicago

There is no doubt in my mind, Legolas, that Jimmy will get a standing O here in St. Louis. And, I agree that Ankiel is awesome.

I just don't think Jimmy has that much playing time left in him though. His best years are long gone.

Legolas,
I agree with you 100% percent about Edmonds get a standing O because we appreciate hustle and spirit. I plan to tell anyone that is sitting next to, in front of, or behind me who starts booing to stop booing and start clapping or don't do anything at all, if they don't like Jim Edmonds anymore just because he's a Cub instead of a Cardinal.

Oh there'll be boos because he's a Cub and some Cards' fans didn't like him. The guy is making nearly $8.3 million this year (Cards/Padres/Cubs budgets) and if he reaches the .250 or so BA mark he'll retire with finesse.

You hate to see someone go downhill when it's near their retirement age such as Edmonds or Izzy. I think overall he'll have lots of cheers. I remember back when Bonds came to St. Louis he was booed by many - so having "class" does pay off.

I think the things that have gotten out of hand are the players salaries...food prices at Busch Stadium...and MLB lack of reverence for tradition...yet we do not have to go to games...I watch on FSN...from the comfort of my couch..

edmonds could have retired a cardinal if he didn't want to play anymore, but he does,so he left, can't blame him or the cardinals for the turn out,i am sure he saw it coming.as the saying goes, out with the old and in with the new
good luck jimmy and go cards
