We seem to be having a new battle lately with my special needs son Curtis he has been battling the barometric pressure with his shunt. It seems that every time the weather changes from cold to hot, or hot to cold he has a headache and stomach ache from the pressure changes in his shunt. After 3 days of headaches and misery on Friday he had another grandmal seizure his second in a month and a half. I am praying that the weather makes up its mind soon so he can get better. It has been frustrating watching him hurting and being so helpless. The only backup we have for a grandmal seizure is his medicine for emergencies called Diastat it stops the seizure within a minute of giving it to him. Hopefully it will get better soon I hope and today he went to his pediatrician again for a visit due to a developing sinus infection we got him an antibiotic and hopefully it will go away and not bring another seizure with it. Prayers are greatly needed.

xoxo,
Tammy

Wow Tammy - sorry to hear that. So it's definitely the change in the weather - right? It's supposed to be like this for the remainder of the week until like Thursday so that should help.

Hang in there girl - it sounds like you have some large obstacles/hurdles but you seem to be a tough person.

Yep...it's amazing what people will resort to when they are depressed or ticked off. I wish this person could have been evaluated somehow - his family seemed oblivious of his violent nature. Did you see his mother being interviewed - she showed absolutely no remorse that night.

his has never clogged thankfully, this is his second shunt though he received the first at two months old, then his recent one in 2003. His current shunt is a v.p. programmble shunt so any adjustments needed on the pressure as he grows can be done magnetically now instead of multiple surgeries. Do you have seizures to? my son has them but they are under control with lamictal(lamotrogene).
