Please people.......Merge does not mean Stop - it means get your butt up to speed with the rest of the traffic on the highway so that you can "merge" with it. Please, please, please - DO NOT stop on an on ramp unless there is a traffic jam. It's a good way to get plowed from behind.

I hate to point this out, but.......WRONG! Read below:
Yield sign
From Wikipedia: In road transport, a yield traffic sign indicates that a driver of a vehicle must slow down and prepare to stop if necessary (usually while merging into traffic on another road) but does not need to stop if there is no reason to. A driver who has actually stopped in this situation is said to have yielded the right-of-way to through traffic on the main road. In contrast, a stop sign always requires a full stop.
According to one rulebook, a yield sign may be warranted:[citation needed]on a minor road at the entrance to an intersection where it is necessary to assign right-of-way to the major road, but where a stop is not necessary at all times, and where the safe approach speed on the minor road exceeds 10 miles per hour;
on the entrance ramp to an expressway where an acceleration lane is not provided;
within an intersection with a divided highway, where a STOP sign is present at the entrance to the first roadway and further control is necessary to the entrance to the second roadway, and where the median width between the two roadways exceeds 30 feet;
where there is a separate or channelized right-turn lane, without an adequate acceleration lane;
at any intersection where a special problem exists and where an engineering study indicates the problem to be susceptible to correction by use of the yield sign.
The same rulebook states that yield signs should not ordinarily be placed to control the major flow of traffic at an intersection.

Aye mate it's a Cray.

And I stand corrected as well - I meant to say Merge signs and not Yield signs. Oops.

i am all with you 2boys4me! if evryone would get up to speed and the everyone would let just one vehicle in traffic would run so much smoother! north county is a total nightmare in the mornings! people need to remember what they learned in drivers ed. that is if they still teach people how to drive in there!

The one I have the most problem with is the exit ramp from I-70 onto 5th street St. Charles. All the folks going to the Bass Pro Store come to a stop at the end of the ramp and back traffic onto I-70!
