A Trusting Hug

The embrace of a hug is a world in itself
And what a rich offering your soul will find there
A hug can communicate so many things
But normally it’s offering some kind of love

If you’re in need of cheering a good hug will help
When it’s given without conditions by someone you trust
If you’re drained or your spirit is dragging you down
You’ll find renewal and rest in this loving embrace

When we are babies we need them for bonding
And hugs are important for your marriage to last
Most people want them no matter their age
It’s not something most ever choose to grow out of

If you’re not getting hugs you’re missing a lot
And it’s the grumpiest of people who tend to avoid them
So whether to give comfort or express a great love
A trusting hug can cocoon you in a safe special world

I guess we should all ask..."Have you hugged someone today?"
My little students often hug me and I can tell you that it is always precious for me to see their little faces smiling up at me..
