SLU BEATS RHODE ISLAND! After three years away from coaching, Majerus has returned to the place where he's most at home: the gym.

This weeks issue of S.I. has a weird quirky story on Coach from a conventional standpoint.  However,  Milwaukee Rick is anything but conventional which is why he's so unique.  Guys like this will be remembered 100 years from now for one reason, he lets it all hang out; in more ways than one.

Since coach came to St. Louis  he has been like a raw open nerve.   He'll give you his number, set a date to talk on air live but then appologetically cancel at the last minute.

Even bribes of hot Johnsonville, G&W and Schubert Millstadt  bratwurst on the grill behind the station doesn't work unless a personal driver is sent to bring him to the station from his hotel/home.

Anyway, I could continue but was just curious about your thoughts on the S.I. article and not so much from a win-loss standpoint but from a, what makes an A.D.D.-type dude like this tick as a leader.

There's an old saying that any publicity is good publicity as long as they spell your name correctly.

Read The S.I. article on the web and come back to discuss.

That's Marty Hendin on the far right. Marty died this weekend at the age 0f 59.

My favorite Marty story begins when Smash was new in St. Louis and worked at KSHE. One morning Smash invited me to his popular radio show and said I needed to bring my harmonica. For about five minutes, Smash went on and on about what a fantastic harmonica player I was. Let's make one thing perfectly clear, I blow a little harp, but it ain't that great.

Suddenly Smash winks at me and says here's a little bit of Pertzy playing. Smash then begins to play a recording of one of the best harmonica jams I had ever heard. Well that was it! At the same time, Marty Hendin was in his car listening and he got so excited. For weeks he was telling people what a fantastic harmonica player I was and how he was going to get me to perform with the Pops in Midtown and at Busch Stadium with Stan the Man etc.

For years this went on and each time Marty asked me if I would perform, I quietly declined. Last year at this time, Marty was on Fox 2 News In The Morning for a segment on a Busch related fundraiser and off camera, he brought it up again.

I finally told him what Smash had done that day years ago and that it was just a recording of someone else. Marty would not believe me and said I was just trying to get out of playing in front of a large crowd.

Tonight I'm going to play a quiet song on the harp in his memory. Marty, if you're listening, I know you will finally believe me.

Rest in peace Marty Hendin. The Cardinals Office will never be the same without you.

This  guy is more celebrity than sports star.  Will he really make Americans interested in soccer?

Go to Europe and he's in every paper and every sportscast from the UK to Germany to Turkey.  The LA Galaxy is paying him 250 million for a five year deal.  The only one who's getting the best out of this deal is this aging player and his Spice Girl.

Father Biondi!  Please hire this quote machine:

"Some guys smoke.  Some guys drink. Some guys chase women.  I'm a big barbecue-sauce guy"  Majerus 1998

Rick, if you take the job, I can make you the point guy at G&W Sausages "World's Larget Brat" event at the Soulard Oktoberfest!  Bigger than any Johnsonville Brat in Sheyboygan my friend.

Let's call upon the Cardinals to let Geoff Hadler toss out the first pitch in the first home game.

Geoff Hadler told the Kirkwood Police about the white truck that helped rescue Hornebeck and Ownby.

Let's have "Geoff Hadler Day" at the ballpark to promote involvement in Law Enforcement.

Thank you for a wonderful best of seven. Mets fans were a class act. Love that New York flava.

Question: Will the Cardinals or Tigers get your support in the World Series?
