PERTZ

Washington University will award six honorary degrees this Friday.  One will be given to  Chris Matthews, host of MSNBC's "Hardball".  This is an Outrage!  What about Journalist Tim Ezell! Where are all the protesters?

 Anyway....

Conservative Phyllis Schlafly is at the center of the other controversial storm.  Read some of the posts in this Washington University blog and experience the outrage.  It's almost as loud as when Iranian "leader" Mahmud Ahmadinejad spoke at Columbia University.

Let the 30 student protest continue but let Schlafly speak and get her degree!  That's what Universities are about ; exchanging  opinions and ideas.   Should either side be silenced, then you and I should  worry.

Phyllis Schlafly joins us Live Thursday morning on Fox 2 News In The Morning...Expect the unexpected.

LOL!! I LOVE when the interviewer asked about the 4% of extra women when it comes to finding a man (she had just finised telling us that women make up %52 of the American population).

Ummmmm....hello...Phyllis missed the opportunity to offer the perfect answer!!!! She should have said, "well my dear, since 10% of women are LESBIANS they won't WANT a man, leaving MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR THE REST OF US!"

I love it. Phyllis, you're a HOOT.

who was this woman doing the interview? she needs some help...lol

I like Phyllis....I may not agree with everything she says but do agree with a fair amt.

Did you see the protestors? They held signs like they believe in evolution...what the heck is that and why was it at a protest for Phyllis ? And really the protestors I saw were a pretty rag tag group....I would hope that a big university like Wash U would not even blink an eye at this group....

Like I said: the proof is in the pudding. You can simply look at this lot of wannabees and see they just wanted to be on TV.

Hopefully one day they'll simply grow up and have mature ideas. The fact that they held up signs about evolution, which has nothing to do with Phyllis Schafly says a lot about their brain capacity as well.

Lets see if she was against equal rights and women being in places of employment instead of being barefoot and pregnant then why did she go to college in the first place? Next for being a “stay at home mom” then how does she explain the publishing companies she has started. What about the articles and books in support of Barry Goldwater and national defense? Then there is the failed campaign for a seat in Congress in 1952.

To me it appears that Schlafly was and is a successful business woman who campaigned against other women having the same success she has had. Her list of accomplishments is quite impressive, more than any stay at home mom I know. This person reminds me a college English teacher I had who wanted to have her cake and eat it too. I asked this teacher then why she wasn’t at home producing babies instead of at a university teaching young men and women? Needless to say she didn’t provide much support to her argument and of course I failed the class for confronting her. At least I supported my statements.

When I first heard this story the only thing that kept entering my mind is:
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Even if is a woman’s mind (just joking ladies). Women can do much more than produce babies and cook for the “master” of the house.

In my mid teens unless I'm mistaken I was at her nephews house in Alton and I remember that his cousin was a little miffed that I was there so he badgered me into trying to explain why we had a black entertainment channel. He complained that there wasn't a white entertaiment channel. Schafleys nephew didn't say a word he just smiled knowingly at me and look down at his thumbs. I got up and started flipping through the channels...

Anywho... You know... woman seems to have a somewhat valid arguement against extremist feminist views. I could see why focus on the family types would agree with her. But for my part she seems to ignore the many variables that go into the issue she's addressing.

Nothing wrong with being a mother or a stay at home mom... and I think her take on Kramer vs Kramer is valid. But who can get past that FLDS hair doo?

Ah, Phyllis Schlafly - just another right-wing conservative hypocrite.

Say one thing to appease the easily misguided minions on the right, do another to appease her own greed. I think it sold a lot of books while she was being a stay-at-home mom!

Why am I so disgusted with the far right? Just listening this morning on Fox to her vulgar and insulting talk about anybody and everybody that disagrees with her phony BOOGEDY is enough.

So she's the "fifth generation" to attend Washington University?? But, she says she "worked through college". Yeah, right. What work did she do, periodic checking on her family inheritance? This woman is a classic poster child of the phony BOOGEDY that comes out of the mouths of the privileged, working so hard to convince us they earned their place in society!

And those protesters are SO jealous of her success! As if to assume none of them are successful. Phyllis, maybe some of those students actually DID actual WORK to get to that college (unlikely, but possible!).

The only thing's she's been successful about is providing other privileged snots some convenient lies to use to try to convince the rest of us they actually earned their way.

Besides, if her chosen mission is to say a woman's place is in the home, then she is a complete failure.

But you're right, John. I would never be for silencing her. No, silencing dissenting opinions is a hallmark of HER kind, the far-right. I say let her speak her mind, so we all know just what a pathetic hypocritical loser she really is.

I didn't have time to watch the video until now...

Those cutaways to the questioner are great. She has that same dumbfounded, "I can't believe these kind of people actually get attention" look I would have had if I were to be forced to listen to this woman's BS and lies (she likes to use the word "lie" a lot, and I guess she should know something about the concept).

Mr. Wildflower, the house you describe was the Schlafly family SERVANT'S quarters, not them! LOL

TheShan started a blog a day after her comment here and still hasn't figured out this is WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY from which she is getting the degree, not UMSL. Quite a difference - I doubt the Schlafly family would have suffered the ridicule and humiliation of sending their privileged daughter to a PUBLIC university far below their elevated status in society. I hope to point that out, if she allows comments. But then conservatives like to shut out opposing views, in as much as most opposing views make way more sense than their little narrow-minded ones.

A great woman....and also a great pilot. I've had the priviledge of flying with her several times!
