Mom and dad visited from Oregon this summer and brought 16 boxes of "stuff" from my childhood.  Included in this delivery were 3 boxes of china from grandma, nothing special or expensive, just some cheap old china dad bought for her years ago.

I immediately threw away four boxes of junk that mom could not bring herself to throw away herself (I felt bad they drove it all the way out, but I had told them to throw it away).

I am stuck now with a box of old trophies ... I went to one of those schools that passed them out like water ...

... well, what do you DO with them!?  Is there a way to re-purpose old trophies?

Give me some ideas ...

Why not find a underprvlge school and ask if they like em...Mabey they can find someone to take your name plate off and put new one on..

Just a idea not suer any schools do that..

Call the boy scouts...... They take them apart and make new Trophys for things like Pinewood Derbys and other events..... They will probably come and pick them up......

Mr-wild stole my idea. Just kidding. Or donate them to roganizations that help mentally challenged people ( Person of the week or month )

Awwww Jill!! Keep it all, girl. I am not a pack-rat AT ALL, but I do like to keep a box of those kinds of things. Now that my kids are pre-teens, they LOVE to look at all that "stuff"....just the other day, my daughter Faith was trying on my old cheerleading outfit and McDonald's uniform!!

BUT, if you really don't want to keep something and are having a hard time getting rid of it, I always BREAK it....smash it, do whatever you need to do where it is non-repairable!! That way, you have no choice but to throw it out! LOL!!

Jill, I know what you mean on trophies.. I have a deep freezer boxed filled of trophies and medals from my soccer era. Collinsville Sports Store on Vandalia I believe will take them or will tell you where..I thought about doing mine, but I changed my mind.

I can't get rid of those memories I played hard for those.

When my daughter was born, I kept the little pink card that the hospital had on the back of her crib. I don't know why I didn't keep either one of the boys cards.

Well, she is in her forties now and she was here and I gave her some of the things that I had kept. I had letters to me from the school, report cards, just add things.

She was the most thrilled with that pink card.

I went to a wedding shower where the mother of the groom gave the bride a little wrapped box. In that box was some teeth that he had lost and a lock of hair. Everyone was so impresed that she had thought to keep those things.

Some of the things have been neat! There are some papers from school and artwork. I went through a lot of it a couple of years ago and sorted and took some of the most important things.

One thing that was really special that she brought this time was my quilt from my grandma!

I used it so much I wore through the fabric on the top where I would pull it up to my chin in the winter. I love that quilt and am very happy to have it.

I also got my old Star Wars comic books ... they're worth a little, but they remind me of being a kid and dressing up for Halloween.

Fun stuff!

My mom had just picture's from when we were kid's.
I kept everything my kid's did for me. I have their baby book, A book for all their school year's with report card's and certificate's and year books. Sometime they ask for the year book's as they see some one who remember but they don't remember the person. But then when they look in the year book they remember them. They will get it when I die.I also have everything from my grandkid's they made for us and card's they gave us (Hand made one's only). The greatgrandbaby's I will also say stuff that they make for us.
I use to save every card and letter and after my mom died , She had put everything of each of us kid's in a milia envelope and I threw all the card's I sent her away plus I went thru my many card threw the year's and only kept special one. As if the card's meant nothing to me that I had sent to mom. Them my card's would mean nothing to my kid's.

Oh I have no idea what to do with the trophie's.
I gave my sin all his plaque's and such when he got out of the marine's and when him and his wife seperated she distroyed everything of his. so no more of them. That is when I decided when I am gone you can have it. Then I won't care if it get thrown away or distroyed. But it does hurt my feeling when they distroy it after I kept it so long.

I am a Web Producer at KTVI Fox 2 News, AKA the Web Chick. I am a scuba diver (if you could not tell) and believe it or not, a certified underwater pumpkin carver (really, I have a card!). I always keep a candy jar on my desk (right now it has a variety of hard candies, what's your favorite?) along with a box of crayons, for those times when you just want to color ...
