Earlier this evening I heard a story on the news that really made me mad, The Illinois politicians were going to vote on whether they should give themselves raises or not, if they voted yes they would all get 7000 more dollars over the next 2yrs and the governor would get 10000 over the next 2 yrs, Oh My God how ludicrious!!!! when the people of Illinois are struggling just to buy food and gas and other neccessaties of life, they're pondering raises how friken rediculous is that.

Heres a good idea, instead of them getting that money, they could raise the minimum wage .75 cents and show that they are not coldhearted, greedy @#$@#$ insert your own cussword there. maybe then the people of Illinois would'nt have to choose between gas and food, hey, we might be able to keep up with our bills to.

So I urge EVERYONE in Illinois to call or email their represenitives and the governor and tell them they should vote no on raises for them. We pay their salaries do we really want to pay them that much more, lets make them do the right thing.

the more people who tell them we aren't going to take it anymore, they will have to listen, especially when you tell them if they do that now they won't be in office later, cause we control the vote, lets see how they like being out of work, hope mickey D's is hiring, lrt them survive on minimum wage.

Must be nice to be able to vote yourself (or approve, in the case of the governor of the state of North Illinois) a raise, especially when you have no accountability to do the job for which you were hired to do.

Regardless of how broke the people of Illinois are the Politicians are going to give them raises regardless of what the people think. The politicians WILL raise taxes or of course they will raise everything for a truck driver to give themselves a raise.
The politicians don't care about us Illinoisians all they care about is how much can they stuff in their pockets cause they think the people of Illinois are clueless. The PEOPLE OF ILLINOIS NEED to write letters to Gov Blow it out your BOOGEDY and tell him how you feel everything. But, he is too busy that he can not read the letters he is off spending our tax dollars flying back and forth from Chicago to Springfield on our dollar. He needs to be out of office, gone, see ya, don't let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya.

This is only the beginning - just wait - Illinois right now has one of the highest taxes on fuel, and even on our homes - that of which are not selling and most are in foreclosures. You can write to the politicians but don't bother to write to Obama - he does not know south of Chicago is still Illinois as he has NEVER RESPONDED to anything you write to him, and you will not get a response from too many of them.

Why does Hot Rod need a raise, we already supply him transportation from Chicago to Springfield since he refuses to live in the capitol city. Plus, I guess the house the governor is supposed to live in is sitting empty. I wonder if they would rent it out j/k. I guess he's gonna stay in the governors seat until the gonvernors cell at the jail is empty, he's more crooked than the past one.

I've alresdy contacted 60 people who are ready to start flooding our ILL politicians with emails I myself will be sending 2 a day every day I'm tired of old blow hole and his cronys and their bloated rhetoric, I just can't afford to live anymore and they're going to listen to me gripe about it, for as long as it takes.

We will always have a problem here in Illinois as long as we have "Chicago Politics" and now it looks like the "Chicago Politics" will end up in D.C. God Bless America.

As far as I know, all politicians vote for thier own raises, including the wonderful national congress. The whole idea is insane.

Yes it is insane, while we're down here working our fingers to the bone struggling to pay bills and trying to keep up with gas prices and food prices, and medical costs, especially if you don't have insurance, I'm really Quite tired of it, and I'm gonna let them know about it,the more people you have the less they can ignore you, the more they know you are watching what they are doing. I'm certainly going to try to shoot this vote down.

You're pretty pesimistic, phone calls, emails and letters are pretty effective, alot of the animal laws in this state that have been passed in the last couple of yrs have been in great part by due to concerned citizens flooding their constituants offices with emails urging them to vote on specific bills to get them passed to better help the animals in our state, and to put animal abusers behind bars. If people whant change then people have to make it, nobody is gonna help us but ourselves.

yeah,they are effective all right,gas 4.00 gal
outrageuous property tax,gov that won't live in springfield, gov telling business owners how to run their business.politicians hiring family ahead of others, metro airport losing millions a year, etc etc, guess the animals are lucky though,at least they listened when it came to them

the house 3 days ago voted on the raises, they rejected the pay raises, it now goes to the Ill senate for a vote there. even if the senate rejects it it might still go into effect, because of a subcommitte that is actually made up of ill citizens that set the ammount of raises the politicians get. I emailed and have talked to a couple of government officials and they said that emails from their constituants would be good ammo to present to the subcommitte, to get them to see that pay raises right now would not be a good idea, especially with elections coming up in november, and most of them want to be reelected, so if you want to try to effect change email your representative so they have the ammo to go to the subcommitte, your already on the computer anyway, you should be able to call the library to get the name of your representative.

I know this a little late but I totally agree with you. I always think it's funny how politians will vote for themselves to get raises. Shouldn't it be the voters to vote for the raises. I mean they get all kinds of goodies and things but yet a big population of the voters are having issues making ends meet.
