Today I saw a dog chained outside to a patio furniture set in the wind and snow in the freezing cold weather, I called the Animal control to investigate and they mved the dog underneath a porch overhang  the dog was still shivering wet and getting belted with wind and snow when all they had to do was move the doghouse closer and put some straw in it for him so he could get out of the weather and be warm and dry. It's really sad when the people trained to do a job don't know what the laws are. So this is for all the people with outside dogs, if you can please bring your animal in during inclement weather, if you can't ,please provide them with adequate shelter to get out of the weather,( doghouse with straw)and adequate food and water, and please keep an eye on the water cause it will freeze, it must be changed often, Remember it is the law in Illinois a misdemeanorthat carries a hefty fine.

So be kind and save yourself a fine, your pet will love you for it and survive the winter.

One can never remind people enough to protect their pets from the Elements..... It's bad enough that they have to keep pets on a chain but in this weather is real bad...... Our pet stays right here in the house and sleeps at the foot of our bed..... Sometimes her and my wife snore in Stereo.....lolSecurity Captainette

Mr Wild--cute dog! My husband has "taught" my Golden how to snore. Dogs are pack animals--they want to be with their"people"..If you have to have a dog outside chained up 24/7 I do not even understand why you would have a dog? If you chain it up in a snow storm you are abusing the dog-period!

I say do the same to the owners that they did to the dog. Leaving the dog outside in the snow with no way to get warm or dry? Outside with your stupid BOOGEDY! Beat a puppy, better line up for your whoopin...

I have a dog house for my dog but he never uses it! I have tried to put a doggie cushion in it and he will drag it out and leave it in the back yard.

When it is raining/snowing/sleeting you will see him sitting in the middle of the back yard. There is a dry back porch (where his house is) and he just will not come in out of the weather.

When the temps are down below 30 I force him to come in the house and let him back out in the AM.

I have just 1 comment to add...It's real simple..No one makes anyone get a Pet, The choice is soley up to the individual..So if you don't plan to treat the animal right, leave he/she where it is!!

Some people just don't think when they go to adopt an animal, they think because it's a cute little puppy it'll be a cute little adult,They want them prepackaged, they think they'll be pottied trained, obedience trained and will listen to everything you say, and when you try to tell them that every animal requires work and effort and constnt ongoing care, it just goes in one ear and out the other, then when the animal gets to big or doesn't do what they want the animal either goes back to shelter or outside onto chain, Then there are some people who want to get an animal strictly for the outside, those people are dooseys.
