Back on valentines day my sister called my grandmother and told her she would be receiving 2 valentine cards from her children that they made especially for her, so we waited and waited for them over a week and a half they never came,we thought they got lost in the mail , so i made some cards off my computer to send to them they never received them, my sister called my grandma 2 days ago come to find out her mail had been stolen not once but twice, she would have never have known had not some of the mail that had been torn through  blew into her yard, The police told her there was nothing she could do until they caught them in the act , they were looking for tax refunds , now my sister has to go and try to straighten out everything they tore up all her bills are late and she has to pay all kinds of late fee's because of those thieves, and they ruined a very special day for my grandma and her greatgrandchildren, it's just sad, if these people applied all the energy they put into stealing into finding a job and working for a living instead of trying to live off the grief of others, we could have a better world. Just a note to everyone out there be aware when your mail gets delivered so it doesn't happen to you , or you can do what my sister & and i are both doing getting a P.O Box.

Also be surprised at the people who do steal.

I've owned more than one business, and sometimes the one who is stealing is also the one preaching and trying to convert you or get you saved. They can almost walk away with your house.

For some people doing NOTHING is a full time job. It like they think you owe them something so they just keep on taking and taking.

Once helped pass out FREE school supplies at this festival for kids a few years ago in St Charles.

These 2 woman and 4 kids TOOK A CAB to the festival. They came all the way from the city and started grabbing anything that was FREE and then had the nerve to complaing that the gift bags "were just cheap crap".

Then DEMANDED that she needed 3 more bags since she had 3 more kids at home with her mother. She had 5 kids!!!!

So much time and effort spent and never once working for anything they get.

Wish I could have just said....
STOP HAVING BABIES and GET A JOB!!!

Unfortunately, having babies IS a job. They get so much money per child, special housing, food stamps, ADC, etc. WELFARE is, has been a way of life and is handed down from generation to generation - and our gov., knowing this exists, don't do very much about it. That is costing you, me and everyone else money out of OUR pockets to pay thes people off!! 69% of those babies are illegitimate PLUS they don't know who the 'baby daddy' is. And, 25% are the others - big difference!!!!

What's worse, what kind of parents is this?????

Is she raising 5 kids that think the world will take care of them.

Where is the fathers; are they supporting the children or just out making as many as possible.

Jaydog, you will probably find out (like I did) that the ones doing the mail theft are kids. The cops told me that I could not even confront these kids (they lived in the area) and take them to their parents as that could be a form of child abuse! The parents would not even pay for the replacement mail boxes or correct their kids!

And people wonder why our prisons are filling up? I will tell you why! All the bleeding hearts that keep saying that it is cruel to punish those that break the law are the ones to blame! I say have harsh punishments and make them stick! No more slap on the wrist and let them go!

Amon, Wheres daddy? Good question. I know the two woman were sisters and they lived together so they both lost daddy somewhere olong the way. But that may not be the daddy's fault.

According to the 16 yr old gal next door who has already had a baby the father doesnt matter. All you need is a plan.

She slept with 1 teenage guy who went to a differnt school then her. He has no idea she had a baby. All she wanted was the baby.

There is no father on the birth certificate and thats just how she planned it. His income would have messed up her welfare and he might have wanted to see the kid once and a while and she had no intention of sharing the baby with him.

I think you would be suprised at how often this happens these days.

You know, I deplore stealing, too, and think it's a despicable act. Punishment should be higher for those who steal from the mail, and maybe enforcement could be taken away from trivial crap like pot busts and put towards "catching people in the act" of stealing from mailboxes, as the cops like to use as an excuse, er, a reason they "can't do anything."

But alas, as usual, this somehow turns into a diatribe against those on welfare who won't work, as if you know that's who did this. How do you know it's not some stuck-up rich kid just playing pranks for want of anything else useful to do - they have plenty of time, because they don't work, either. AMOM's observation is right about this, too.

It's simple. I don't like stealing, either.

That's why I'm so much against the Republicans!

Don't some of you get it, tag and dragon?

sarcasticdragon, that's why I like the idea of having a limit on how long you can be supported by the system. Kentucky instuted a 2 year term on them. After 2 years you can no longer get help from the system. They offer free training in many fields and help with the kids while taking the training but after 2 years, you are on your own. No more free rides for the rest of your life!

OK, SikU, lets talk turkey. I KNOW about the stealing from mailboxes and it isn't KIDS! They are young adults and usually someone that lives near the person that had their mail stolen! They watch until they learn the patterns! How do I know? Because I've been a victim of this same crap! And, they ARE being victimized by those lazy individuals that DO NOT want to work! It's easier because they are school dropouts, lazy parents that did the same thing, think the world owes them a living as taught by the lazy parents, no values, no sense of responsibility, can't read, etc., BUT THEY DO KNOW HOW TO GET A CHECK CASHED because they have 'contacts' that get a share of the profits from the stolen checks!!! Kids don't know this - young adults, DO. And, your opinions aren't always accurate. Opinions are like AH, everybody has one! They look for jewelry, other things that can be turned into cash, AND checks like Social Security! Don't preach it if YOU don't understand it. Me, AND Dragon DO understand it!!!! Been there, done that, and already won the t-shirt!!!

tagalong68, when I said "Kids" I was talking about the 16-20 year olds and I guess you could call them "young adults" but that is not what the cops call them when it comes down to you or me pummeling the heck out of them when you catch them in the act! They consider them kids until they turn 21!

Pug, they cannot, by law, consider them 'kids'. If they are the age of 17 or older they are judged as an adult, however, each state has its own age limit. Some at 17, some at 18, but few wait until they are older. These aren't kids! They are young adults -think about it, when you were 18 to 21, etc. did you think of yourself as a 'kid'? Of course not, and neither does the state statutes. Utah changed its age limit law to incorporate 15 year olds to be tried as adults. It all depends on the crime! If a cop tells you these are 'kids' then he/she doesn't want to do their jobs and figure the general public doesn't know any differenc, and unfortunately, he/she isn't too far wrong. And, no matter what you catch them doing, you cannot pummel the heck out of them because then YOU will be charged with assault! You can hold and detain them until a cop arrives, but you can't get physical to hurt! (Which is too bad because most, if not all, deserve a world of hurt). And, if you have one that is 17 or over you can DEMAND that cop do his/her job and write a citation, or take the guy in to the station in cuffs!!! If they don't, and you've got the guy red handed, then tell the 'arresting cop' that you will file a complaint with his Capt., and in his personnel jacket if he doesn't do his job!!! You gotta understand a cops mind to some degree. more....

No. 1, if they make an arrest they have to write a report and appear in court. They don't want to do that. No. 2, a lot of folks say they want the perp arrested and then change their minds about prosecuting that person. A cop gets really disgusted at this. Figures its a royal waste of his time, and it is, to have someone back out of doing what they should do. A cop can't charge a perp. unless they see him committing a crime, and, if someone else calls it in the cop has to depend on what that witness saw, heard, states, etc. and then appear in court, too. This can take up to a couple of years or more!! So, because of the red tape, the change in minds, and lazy cops, we as potential victims have a problem because you cannot take the law into your own hands, and if you do, you better believe your life was in danger when you beat the heck out of someone. Besides, these young punks are probably stronger as well. So, you takes your chance, right?

tagalong68, ok I am now more informed. Thank you. Do you think the cops would get upset if the "Young Adult" just happened to trip or fall down and got his/her self hurt?

Most of these are gang members and travel around in groups when they are doing these things. I have seen them and tried to catch (I.E. get my hands on) them but they run faster than I do. When the cops show up (much later) the "Young Adults" are no where to be found. So nothing happens! It gets frustrating.

The word jerk comes to mind instead of young adults! And, if they trip and fall better be sure no one sees it, and the perp falls right on his head, then you can declare he doesn't know what he is talking about because he's brain damaged! Ha! Good for you if you catch one, but be prepared to have a struggle cause they ain't gonna wanna go peacefully! And, they will know you aren't a cop or sheriff. Usually they will travel in groups of 4 or more, then if caught, look for them to take off in 4 different directions! They have that scam right down to the ninth degree! Take a dog, a big dog, cause they don't like dogs!! No way, no how!! A dog will smell the anxiety on them, and they will warn you and help you. You can claim a canine did it! Chances are they will be packin', so be prepared for that, too. These are not just penny anti thieves, these are bad guys, believe that!!!!

If a perp takes a tumble, its your word against his UNLESS there is a witness, and you would be surprised at who sees what taking place. It all depends on how civic minded they are as to whether they get involved, and most don't want to get involved so they keep their mouths shut! That could be bad, that could be good. Bad if YOU are hurt, good if "THEY" are hurt. In most states anything over $500 to $1000. is a felony. Under that its a misdemeanor! Prior records help, no priors a possible slap on the wrist!
