Knowing STL's penchant for all things fast-food, I figure many of you will be happy to read this article from the St. Louis Business Journal:

Dunkin' Donuts said Wednesday it would open a dozen new stores in St. Louis.

The Canton, Mass.-based donut chain signed of a multi-unit store development agreement with The Geller Network and plans to open two stores in 2009.

Geller is an existing Dunkin' Donuts and Baskin Robbins franchisee.

Managing member, Michael Geller, has strong ties to St. Louis as a graduate of both the Washington University School of Law and the John M. Olin School of Business.

Dunkin' Donuts' is seeking new and existing franchisees to purchase a minimum of 10 restaurants in St. Louis, specifically in the surrounding counties of St. Charles, North County, Northwest County, Southwest County, Jefferson, Lincoln, Warren and Washington.

The chain also wants to expand in Dayton, Detroit, Memphis, Birmingham and other select markets.

I only eat donuts about 3x a year so I am by no means a donut expert but when I first moved to STL in 1993 DD had the best freshest donuts. We went to the Creve COur location. Everyone that visited --we had to go to DD. As a child we had them in the Cleveland OH area and again a big treat but they went waaaay downhill. Stale donuts. Rude workers who couldn't understand you--no English. Then you just went to Dierberg's if you wanted a donut.

Haven't seen a Dunkin Donuts in a long time nor have I had their product since then. What I remember, it was good. Since then if I want a REALLY good donut, I go to Paul's Donuts and Ice Creamery on Jungerman Rd. Their thee best around. JMO

It's not about the donuts- It's the coffee.
Cheaper and less bitter than Starbucks.

A large regular (cream and sugar) and a chocolate glazed is all you need in the morning

Small black coffee and a peanut stick is a wonderful way to ease into a morning after a night when you maybe stayed out a lil too late enjoying adult beverages. Or so I'm told :)

We need another donut place, like we need more churches and banks! LOL

What I'd like to see around here are more places where you can get a GREAT salad...I don't think that we 'need' more fast food. We need more 'real' food...JMO, of course.
