Retired Gen. Wesley Clark, a former Democratic presidential candidate now supporting Barack Obama, said Sunday John McCain's military service does not automatically qualify him to be commander in chief.

Underscoring during a national television appearance a position he has been expressing for several weeks, Clark said performing heroic military service is not a substitute for gaining command experience."He has been a voice on the Senate Armed Services Committee and he has traveled all over the world, but he hasn't held executive responsibility," Clark said. "That large squadron in the Navy that he commanded — that wasn't a wartime squadron."

----
And according To Clark where exactly is Obama's experience?

Easy to compare the two and make a decision. Also look at the state when they come from. Easy to see the Land of Laws Illinois is broke, overtaxed, and you can not even protect yourself or family. What a joke Illinois is.

The remarks are just another ploy of the democratic party to down McCain. Clark had to make them so Obama's campaign would not look bad. 4 more months of this kind of cr**.

Wesley Clark has sold his soul to the liberals . The past 7 years Wesley Clark has been on more sides of the fence than weeds .

Its sad to see a man sell himself so cheaply and willingly

I can not believe Clark done that. I seen the interview and he looked like a complete jackass. When the question was asked to him about what experience BO has - he could not even come up with a remark or comment. You know the old saying keep mouth shut and let people think you are a fool and open mouth and prove you are a fool. Not sure what he is bucking for. I he may be wanting something.

I will go out on a limb here, and say I do not give a rats rear if the President has military experience.
Now the secretary of defense, yes, they should have. I will admit I do have a slant towards a veteran, can not imagine why.
But General Clark, I think he wants to be in the cabinet or maybe even vice prez.

Ashley Clark.........isn't he the guy who bombed every bridge over the Danube in Kosovo? Isn't he the guy who shrugged his shoulders when he gave an order to bomb and it resulted in a large number of civillian casualties? Isn't that the general who got where he got by stabbing other military men in the back?

Yeah, I thought so.

You are so right CK!..I know a B-2 Pilot who said Clark was the biggest prique he ever met..talking down to Air Force Generals like he was Caesar...quite full of himself...instead of being a good General who promotes comradery...especially combined arms...

Well, I will say McCain has the experience, all right.

He has experience with the Republican Congress under Bush who let the economy sputter and collapse into hell, who let the war rage on just for oil profits, emptying our tax coffers, he has LOTS of experience giving tax breaks to the wealthy so they can continue to cut jobs and send them overseas, and he has experience taking our rights away in the name of security from terrorists.

So, yeah, McCain has a LOT of experience, that is FOR SURE.

I guess the question is, do we want that kind of experience?

I think for about 70% of Americans (the ones who work for a living - most of you commenting in here don't understand the concept) the answer will be a resounding NO!

And the state they come from? HEY, another winner! Just what we need - another cowboy hick oil tycoon from Texas!

I saw a sticker that says it all - an old lady driving her big ol' Buick....

Okay, the point is about experience and Clark is just kissing up. Couldn't you see his butt colored lips!!!???

McCain has a ton of it I admit it. You should if you were with Moses when the 10 commandments were written.

But the "Military Experience" is what got us in this mess. We need less Military right now. Maybe later we will need more concentration on the Military. But right now we need and economist or a business owner who is suffering right along with us. The Military or any Religious efforts are not going to fix this mess we are facing right now and deep down yall all know it! Why don't we talk about what each man is going to do about that?

Would someone please stand up and tell us WHAT EXPERIENCE OBAMA REALLY HAS!! He has not been in the Senate that long, probably does not know where the cafeteria is!! When he was in the State Senate he voted PRESENT most of the time. He could not even take a position!!

It is probable that Israel will attack Iran in the near future causing a great deal of unrest in the Middle East. Do we really want a rookie, with no experience?

BTW Clark is a joke, trying to score points with Obama. I saw the interview, and Clark looked like a Jerk!

Ashley Clark's military experience - just like Jimmy Carter's military experience. We don't need more of either at this time thanks!

I can tell you what experience he has!!!

He has lots of experience in minipulating the American people with his slick, car-salesman smile and sleazy lies.

Kinda reminds me of Bill Clinton.
