Tough question..... I don't think I've ever had one...... It all started when My son bought me this pocket knife that was bigger than my pocket with everything including a fork and spoon and even a pair of scissors all folding out with the other 9 blades..... Gold plated and he only paid 2 dollars for it at secret santa........ The proud look on his face when I opened it...... He was 6 then.... With a foundation like that how could you ever get a bad gift from your kids........ Those that did get a gift that dissapointed them have forgotten what fathers day is about......

My Dad has been gone 16 years now, when I was a kid, I did get him a Barbie doll for fathers day.

My dad's been gone 30 years, but I would always bake him cookies. He especially enjoyed the burnt ones, (or so he told me so I wouldn't feel bad!)

My dad is getting weeds this year!
I'm not kidding! He is planting MO natives in his hometown park and he wants wild violets. So the ones that survived poisoning in my yard, I'm pulling-up to give to him! The next thing you know I'll be digging up dandilions!

As a mother on Mother's Day, the handmade anything and big kisses are more than enough. But bonus points for a cup of coffee that I didn't have to make! LOL

If you 'need' more than that, you've missed the point.

It's all about the love behind it.

I've received small rocks found on walks..."flower" weeds clutched in a dirty little hand, anxiously awaiting me to fill up a container of water to display them...scrap paper cards with scribbles...precious toys or artifacts of life, saved for years and then given to me because it was valuable to THEM. Wrapped in wrinkled paper with too much tape...

Are there better gifts out there? I just don't think so. The love in the heart of child given innocently and freely is the best gift we've been given.

I have no clue what my husband wants for Father's Day but I remember one year my kids and I bought him a garden hose....now how pathetic is that? Needless to say, since then, they have been better gifts. I am hoping to get a flat screen for him in our bedroom.
