Local author Joe Sonderman goes national with a new book called: "Images In America: Route 66 In St. Louis."

We'll have him on the set Tuesday morning to share the stories and photos he's gathered.

But we also want to hear YOUR Route 66 stories!

So tell us your Route 66 stories and if you'd like to share some photos, we'd love to see those, too!

I live on old route 66. Lots of interesting things past my house.
All the little electric cars.
Parades
Sometimes a couple of hundred motorcycles.
People taking pictures.
Always interesting.

Years ago while driving a truck west on old 66 . It was winter time and the roads had patchy ice here and there . I started down the grade just this side of Devils Elbow Mo ( just East of Waynesville Mo ) .
About halfway down the hill . The road bed was covered with about 4 inches of solid ice . Old 66 road bed had those water concrete drains on both sides of the road . When my trailers front tandons hit the ice , The trailer jack knifed . I slide down the hill , threw the old concrete bridge . Never hit a thing . The road on the Westside of the bridge was dry . The trailer just straighten right up and I was on myway safe and sound.
On my way about 2 miles too the 128 Truck Port , that is . I had to stop and give my legs a chance to stop shaking . LoL
"Old 66 was no cakewalk for a truck & trailer :"

I drove my team and wagon on route 66. NO JOKE....for the county fair parade here. Missed the news so didn't see it....guess its a little different if your living near route 66 and drive it all the time. And yep...lots of interesting people from different parts of the country do travel it thru the summer months.

Route 66 is a wonderful piece of our history. Take a drive down it and revisit the past. See places that you would not normally see, visit with people that can remember back when, take pictures of things that may not be there tomorrow. Every year there is something lost along Route 66 that can never be brought back. Enjoy it while you can.
