The Ford plant will be redeveloped into light industrial, warehouse and distribution--

That's the word today from the city of Hazelwood.

A Sacramento-based company wants to redevelop all 155 acres - it will include 11 new buildings. What do you think of plans for the Ford plant?

All the yeas that they ave producing cars there and all of the Spills over the matter of 50 plus years I wonder what the soil samples would reveal for that property......

How much gasoline,,,antifreeze,,,,,oil,,,, brakefluid,,,,, battery acid,,,, cleaning chemicals,,,, paint chemicals,,,, and others have seeped into the soil over the years.....

I think it's better use than what it's being used as now (vacant). The economy around this structure should pick up if you have people coming/going to work. The City is already getting the property tax on it and if Ford still has an abatement then the new industry should have to pay.

Doing anything to this building is positive. The taxpayers of Hazelwood were let down by Ford Motor Company and this should help the local economy.

Well in troy Michigan they took a old ford plant and made it into a huge market..
Half of it is little stores that are opend all the time and half of the other half is something diffrent every weekend..like one weekend a paper/coine show or baseball card show or flea market or anrquic show..Boy did they have tons of customers not to mention the money it brought in for the city...

What kind of business will be light industrial? Retail packaging and drop shipping for goods made in China?

Welcome and really work with business always. No taxpayer expense. No crazy restrictions. The 1 percent earnings tax the city of Saint Louis charges, deters new business. If you want a business to paint yellow lines, stopping smokers from entering, it is a good idea to tell them ahead of time before the business opens. If not, leave them alone.

While I haven't read anything to confirm this one, whaddya want to bet it's going to be with TIFF money. That's right, there will be no taxes on the property for say 10 years or so which means that its going to be financed on the backs of the citizens of Hazelwood.

Lets hope its industrial and so on. The last thing they need in this economy is low paying retail stores that no one can afford to shop at.Keep the jobs here in the USA and not China.

What about making it an (in door baseball field) for the kids 4-16 years old and have baseball year around for these kids.. It could be used year around for this, they could practice, play games, etc. (like a big sports center only for baseball) and for KIDS.
