Cell Phones In School

The Warrenton School Board has banned the use or display of cell phones during school. The superintendent had wanted the phones classified as contraband - just like drugs or weapons. Why? because bullying and cheating have gone high-tech.

The Superintendent is in a dream world. Should they be banned during school hours - absolutely. This should be applicable to teachers also.

Is a cell phone a drug or weapon? Well, I've never smoked/snorted my cell phone so I can assume it's NOT a drug! As for a weapon, oh, these babies hurt when you get hit in the shins. LOL - not a weapon (most of the time at least)!

I think they are going a bit overboard. Just forbid cell phones from being "powered up" during school/learning hours. I do think they should be allowed during a lunch break - JMO.

Set a zero tolerance policy for both students and teachers on cell phone usage - keep them turned off.

Another form of addiction is text messaging, I can't stand it when my wife text me back to back to back... As technology evoles there will other ways of getting by with communicating in the class rooms. Text messaging can also be a form of cheating in class. With that I say ban them from the room.

I think text messaging is one of the stupidest things out there! People are worried and mad about people TALKING on cell phones while driving. What about the ones texting while driving? OMG!! I ask my own grown children why in the world they need texting on their phones? The answer I get is well, if you try to call and they don't pick up. Leave voice mail! Stupid!

I am as bad as the kids..I love to text message, i guess it is addicting..I thought the same thing that text messaging was stupid but I really got into it...I do think the cell phones should be turned off during class but during lunch it would be fine..JMO
