St. Louis Aldermen apparently heard you loud and clear after my You Paid For It on an Alderman trying to get a extra $400 gas allowance to help them with the high cost of fuel.

You already pay them $30,000 a year for the part time job that meets once a week.

Plus you give them a $2,400 a year expense account.

Alderman Charles Quincy Troupe called all the money you're paying "chump change"

But taxpayers weren't "chumps" this time.

I recently grilled the head of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen Louis Reid.

He told me Troupes bill was dead, and won't see the light of day anytime soon.

Score one for common sense and for the many people that called the Board and blew up the phone lines.

After all You Paid For it.

400 dollars would more than buy my gas for everything I do for the entire month... I guess he would like to have his electric , gas, and water bill paid too......

He probably just lost the next election....

Attention Elected Aldermen: You do very little for even the $30K per year - part time job! You should NOT have an expense account because NO expenses are incurred.

Pens, paper, and other office supplies are handed out as needed. So, what's this $400 really for? Gas? LOL - get serious. If you cannot afford gas as an Alderman to attend your weekly meeting then QUIT!
