Barak Obama's campaign is historic by any measure.  He's possibly on the road to becoming the first African American  President. Now of course he's facing a big decision.

Who to pick as his Vice President..
I've heard a lot of names tossed out. But one name consistantly snuffed out..Hillary Clinton.

I think much of the excitement in the Democratic Primary contest was the rivalry between the first African American with a serious chance to become president and the first woman with a serious chance to get elected.

Some of that excitement has wanned since Hillary got out of the race. The question is can Obama keep that same level of interest on his own. That may be a tall order.

For weeks polls have been showing Obama's race with McCain tightening.

A Pew Poll  after his race with Hillary ended showed that half the public was tired of hearing about Obama'.

There's a simple explaination. Without Hillary and Bill  as targets for the media, Obama is left the take all the arrows himself and his teflon seems to have been stripped away some time ago.

In my opinion the only way to re-energize his campaign is to bring back Hillary and Bill.

If they became the whipping boy once again Obama could soar back to his once lofty heights..And have a better chance of  gliding into the While House.

None of the other names on his short list of Vice Presidential Candidates will give him nearly the lift that Hillary could. Lets not forget she landed 18 million votes, and racked up a sizable number of state victories in the Primary race.

Right now Obama is taking of  fire from the McCain campaign, through attack TV ads, plus he's gotten hammered in the aftermath of the Saddleback appearance.

The New Zogby poll shows McCain ahead by 5 points.

Add to it ,the Republican's haven't even openned up on him with their heavy guns yet. That's coming.

Obama needs a strong defense, plus some tough attack dogs to fend off the expected in-coming fire...Who better than Bill and Hillary...And as and added bonus you'd get James Carville too..Probably the best Democratic pit bull dog in the business.

You don't have to like your VP choice.  Kennedy wasn't that fond of Johnson, Ford had no love for Jack Kemp, The first Bush called Reagan's economic policy voodoo economics yet Reagan picked him, Roosevelt barely knew Truman..and the list goes on and on.

As for McCain the tightenning polls makes his job a lot easier. As one news article said before he may have been force too make a radical choice like Former Governor Tom  Ridge or Senator Joe Lieberman to shake up the ticket and add some excitement if possible.. (Former Governor Ridge is  Pro-Choice-Lieberman a  Democrat/Independent) Now McCain has the luxury of playing it safe, and not rocking the conservative boat that's got him to this point. in a year the Republican's were supposed to have no chance of winning.

If Obama wants to throw a monkey wrench into the Republican machinery..he'll get the Hillary and Bill show..back on the road.

At the very least it would be fun to watch.

If BO chooses Hillary, he would be wise to hire a food taster!! Bottom line is the fact that BO is a lousy candidate, an empty suit. I know that the liberal media is upset that their messiah is not doing as well, but it is not a surprise to most of us that ignore the liberal media!!

Obama will choose a running mate who will not upstage him,in case he does win the 2008 Presidency.

Obama, `I`m sure he would like a 2nd term..

So we will have two talking heads.

I think if he does win it will be a lot like Ulysses S Grant and Warren G Harding Presidency
with the same type of Presidential Cabinet..

There no doubt in my mind that, Obama been groom[sponsor] by some powerful money men....

Why do i think that? Just to much media, to big of a push to get his name out there 5 years ago for a junior Senator .

Theres, what 10O voting Senator members?
435 House voting members...

Why would a Publisher publish a book let alone two over a unhear of upstart unless, it was push by some really big money .

The unknown questions with no answers..

How much will that cost in new contracts and new public policy laws..

I know when it comes to business. for every dollar you spend you need to make at least 3 dollars back...

I also know when you are taking business away from a competitor you have to up the ante...

Obama and is not for all the People, just the Black ones. That goes for his wife also.

They do not care for any white Americans. That was shown when they stayed with a church for more than twenty years spouting racial hatred for the Whites.

His choice will be the most important decision of the entire campaign........

I would not totally rule out Hilliary, but she is a longshot......

There are a lot of people in the country that will want to see him fail so he needs to really think out his decision....

Even though I don't support Obama if he were to win I don't want to see him fail. Our country can't afford that at this time. My Question for those who support him is what programs or plans has he put forth that will help the country. I haven't seen any. Unless you consider the goverment taking over everything as good for the country. I think he should pick Biden and McCane pick Alan Keyes. Wouldn't that be fun.

Bill an Hill would make a fun campaign, but I don't see it as a winning combo, but I don't see BO winning with anyone, I just don't want to hear that IF he had picked Hillary he WOULD have won.

I hope it is Biden. I've actually come to wish he was the democratic nominee for president.

Elliott, I made a bet with a friend 1 year ago that the Dems. ticket would be Obama and Hillary. So far it looks like I am half way there at least. Now we will have to bet on who the next prez will be. Follow my lead here people. I have not been wrong for the last 5 elections.

It will be interesting to see who both candidates have chosen as their running mate. Win or Lose, you gotta give it to the Dems, they've certainly made this campaign quite interesting.

TROUBLE IN PARADISE!! The Dem Convention should be a hoot to watch!! Yeah, picking Hillary would be a real laugh as well. Can you imagine how nervous Obama would be, having Bill & Hillary right behind him!! Not only will he need a food taster, but additional security as well. He would also need someone to start his limousine, never know when someone could tamper with the vehicle!!

More dirt continues to come out on BO.....going into the convention behind in the polls. He will make a safe choice for VP. Nothing risky!!

Just another thought....since Elliot Davis is an investigative Journalist, perhaps he could investigate the William Ayers connection to BO!! Just a thought.

At this point in the campaign I don't think you can afford to play it safe.
The last person who shunned the Clinton machine was Al Gore..
Worry about the food taster after you get in the White House.
The object for him right now is to win.
Meanwhile I'm sure the McCain folks are hoping that it's not Hillary..I think they'd have an easier time dealing with any other choice.
Obama has to find a way to bring the millions of Hillary supporters back in the tent.
Many of them won't settle for anything thing less than her being picked as the Vice Presidentail nominee.

Maybe Hillary will come out of the convention the nominee!! We will see how he chooses. Conventional wisdom says play it safe, but he may shake it up!! The bottom line is the fact that the Democratic Party is worried about Obama. He is not as strong of a candidate that they had hoped.

You know what would be refreshing...having reporters asking tough questions to Obama. Maybe questions about his book.

From Dreams of My Father : 'I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mother's race.'

From Audacity of Hope: 'I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.'

Or maybe asking more questions about his friendship with a Domestic Terrorist (William Ayers)
