I am a true science fiction buff. I used to watch the original Battlestar Galactica staring Loren Green years ago.. I really liked the series even though I thought it was kind of lame at times..

I have to admit the new version is 1000 percent better..Not only the photography but the action and story plots have so much realism that the original.

I'ts shot with this ominous look that befits the dire situation of the Battlestar's crew. Everything about it is really great. This is a case where the remake is better than the original. How often does that happen.

I have in mind Star Trek. It took a while for the Next Generation with Captain Picard to grow on me..But I just couldn't get into Deep Space Nine. By the time Voyager landed I was gone..contenting myself with looking at my old dvd's, and vcr's of the original, and the next generatioin.

But the way I was a fan when the series first aired in 1968..

Now I'm proud to say I'm on Galactica's bandwagon.

I am with you Elliott. Huge Sci-Fi fan. Battlestar is also one of my favorites. Enterprise was also good. Scott Bakula made a great captain. Still nothing like the original Star Trek though.
Hey! If you get a chance to read, check out Harry Turtledove. He writes mostly alternate history. Check out his series Worldwar. It is about a alien species invading earth during WWII. I think you will like it.

I've just caught snippets of "Enterprise"
I'll have to take a good look at it.
It's so amazing to see how times have changed.
The romantic scenes on the original Star Trek are really tame by today's "Battlestar standards"
Half the scenes today wouldn't have gotten past the network censors.
The most Kirk ever did was a kiss here and there. Spock even less than that. And Scotty..Forget about it.
But I have to say Battlestar is more realistic..Could you imagine nothing ever happening in a ship the size of the Enterprise..
Please.

Yeah bud. With a babe like Uhura on that ship!
I think you will like Enterprise. Harkens back to the original series much better than Deep Space or Voyager.
Dang! We sound like a couple of Trekkies do we not.
I must admit to being into Sci Fi a bit much. I even like a lot of the old 50's movies. I even have a copy of Plan 9 from outer space.

Hey, Elliot, it's Darius, we met in the video room the other day. Battlestar is a great show. I'm glad you're watching it. You better catch up quick though, I think they're pulling the streaming episodes for season 4 off the internet.

Hey perky, what's doctor who about? I've heard its great, but not much other than that.

and fellow battlestar fans. How upset are you that we have to wait until 2009 for new episodes? what the frak man

Thanks Perkypolock. Now that was entertaining.
Speaking of entertaining, did anyone see Galaxy Quest?

One more thing. I actually collect old Star Trek episodes..
My favorite is Balance of Terror. Quiz question. Anyone remember who the bad guys were in that?

That would be the Romulans. Did you know Mark Lenard played the Romulan commander and later Sarek? That would be Spocks father for those who do not know.
Galaxy Quest was great! Hit it with a rock! Then we will eat it!

Galaxy Quest awesome. I never got into the orginally Star Trek, but when Picard came out my honey got me hooked. Brent Spiner that played Data was awesome.

perky, Worf was my man. But Marina Siritis the woman that played Deanna Troi got me interested. And Stargate is an awesome series. Both the original and Atlantis. Have not watched much of the new Dr. Who series but am a big fan of the original.
My wife is convinced that I am a 6'5" nerd. But she still gets me Sci Fi related gifts for any reason.
My question to all is this. What is your favorite Sci Fi movie. I must admit this will not be easy. I have two. The remake of War of the Worlds with Tom Cruise. And the Day the Earth Stood Still. Klatu Barrada Nikto.

Elliot, I too am into SiFi and I like both Battlestar Galactica series.

Perky, which Dr Who do you like best? I like Tom Barker followed by Jon Pertwee.

As for the hottest Star Trek character, I would have to go with Seven-of-9 from Voyager.

Perky, do you have a copy of Forbiden Planet staring Walter Pidgeon, Anne Francis, Leslie Nielsen & Robbie the Robot?

Tom Barker and Jon Pertwee are both great actors..honestly I couldn't say for they both play Dr. Who well..but this new Doctor Who portrayed by David Tennant is growing on me.

Forbiden Planet, back in the 50'g b4 my time all though I did see reruns. No I do not have a copy, but that would be awesome. Especially making my daddy watch it with me. He use to make us kids watch all those programs and now he claims television is boring. Maybe bring back some of the old goodies and thrive up the tube again.
