January has been an interesting month already with sub-degree weather in the beginning of last week to record breaking temperatures in the 70's this week.  With that said its all about the warm moist air surgeing northward from the gulf. Temperatures throughout the region are in the upper 60's to the lower 70's and coupled with a storng cold front in January that usually means severe weather. Which is the case.......... Tornado watch has already been issued for Central MO. Super cell thunderstorms are fireing ahead of the potent cold front moving west to east.  That means in time those storms could impact the region later tonight. The main threats are damaging winds, large hail, and a few tornadoes. Wind profiles are storng enough to support rotating thunderstorms so it is important to watch the weather closely this evening and tonight.  I'm thinking that most of the region will be spared the severe wx til about mid-night.  Stay up to date with the fox2 weather team:)

Forecast:

Tonight- Thunderstorms some could be severe.... with tornadoes mainly west of the Missip. river. Low in the upper 50's

Tuesday- Rain/Storms some severe in south central IL. Temperatures falling in the afternoon.

Keep abreast of  the lastest weather news. Just because it's winter does not mean these storms will not be as severe as a spring type severe wx outbreak.

My name is Reath and I'm 18 years old and I've been interested in the weather since I was hit by a EF2 Tornado in 1996. I attend Salem Community High School as a senior; everyone there calls me doppler. So I created a blog with that name. On the side I love takeing photos of clouds and lighting. I also enjoy writting reports on the weather and handing them out to my teachers and fellow classmates. And now blogging. Enjoy!
