I'll start it out by saying that my love for the weather comes from the severe storms in the spring and summer. Nothing gets my aderline pumping more than a severe weather outbreak. However coming in at a second favorite is of coarse SNOW! It will be interesting to see what everyone else's favorites are.

Severe weather of any kind. Love to chase thunderstorms and absolutely love watching a winter system come together. Even the heat wave interested me. Just watching the thermometer go up and down so fast those days as clouds passed was a trip.

Okay, since you asked for my opinion in red I'll give it to you. :-) I love the unpredictability of weather...the challenge to get it right when there is so much stacked against you. I love thunderstorms...lightning in particular. I did a lot of research in that area in college. Watching a good squall line move through is always a great day. Well, I shouldn't say that. Storms often mean people get hurt or have property damage. But, from a meteorological perspective, I enjoy watching storms roll through.

Severe weather gets my adreneline pumping.
A close 2nd would be a hurricane. Went through Hurricane Andrew in Florida back in '92. Something I'll never forget.

From a business perspective I love the ability to look at the storms on radar and try to figure out if this will impact my customers related to damage. Normally once the storm has gone through the areas where I have customers located I will call them to see if they have damage. I am also a un-official weather spotter for a local radio station in my area.

The weather reports and storm predictions are a very vital part of the service I provide to my clients. The above picture is evidence of that.

I enjoy Springtime. Getting out in the warm air after being inside most of the winter. The grass starts turning green, Cardinals baseball kicks off (that's when you really know it's springtime), and then comes Daylight Savings time (I wish we had it all 12 months.)

All of the above! =)

Most of all, I like watching powerhouse storm systems like the one that just hit the West Coast. Whether they are blizzards, hurricanes, or super severe outbreaks, they are so, so fascinating! The energy involved in a storm of this magnitude is utterly amazing.

A GREAT question!

I have to say for me that nothing can top the adrenaline of covering a breaking severe thunderstorm or tornado event. Besides the awesome power these storms have...it is one of only a handful of things we do that has the ability to immediately save somebody's life! I wasn't sure that was really true until a couple of years ago when those tornadoes hit in the middle of the night March 11-12, 2005 I think. I received hundreds of emails from viewers...many of whom said I saved their lives or the life of somebody they know because of my coverage that night. I keep those letters as a reminder of how important this job can be.

For long term build-up, nothing is better than a big snow storm.

Being fro Wisconsin, up there was the snow storms and severe weather that we got in the spring, but since moving to Missouri. Being in the ice storm in November which was scary and amazing at the same time, I think that thunderstorms and ice storms are something that I watch for now being here. Hopefully we wont have to worry about those darn ice storms anymore but who knows....

misstyna73, you missed out on the big ice storm in December of 2006! This past ice storm was nothing compared to December of 2006.

What gets my attention are severe storms (ei.: tornadoes, hurricanes, huge thunderstorms, super cells, etc.) and clouds. I'm a huge cloud watcher!

I guess what got me to like thunderstorms and tornadoes was when I was a little girl. My grandpa, mom, brother, and I were on our way to Memphis, Tennessee in a top heavy van. A tornado was right in front of us. We had to stop under a bridge for safety. I think it was just a F1, but I didn't want to see it. I just wanted to sleep. My brother just learned about tornado safety before leaving and so he took off his seat belt and tried to wake me up saying, "Crystal! Crystal! Wake up! There's a TORNADO!!!" I told him to leave me alone. He screamed, "GET AWAY FROM ALL OF THE WINDOWS!!!" and fell to the floor of the van, covering his head. I thought my grandpa, mom, and brother got to see the tornado and I didn't because I wanted to sleep. So, now I'm facinated with tornadoes and to eventually see one. I watch for rotation in the clouds and when the clouds get green, you can bet I'm on my front or back porch watching the storm with the door open to hear if there is a tornado warning from Chris, Dave, Glen, or anybody else in the wheather department of FOX 2 News.

My name is Reath and I'm 18 years old and I've been interested in the weather since I was hit by a EF2 Tornado in 1996. I attend Salem Community High School as a senior; everyone there calls me doppler. So I created a blog with that name. On the side I love takeing photos of clouds and lighting. I also enjoy writting reports on the weather and handing them out to my teachers and fellow classmates. And now blogging. Enjoy!
