My mom had a thought today. When the water from the Mississippi is rising downtown on the landing like it is now. What happens to the drains on the riverfront road? Is there someway to close it off so all that water doesn't get into them and back up all of the other sewers downtown? Do they come by when its predicted to flood and plug them up or what? I was just curious if anyone knew the answer??

So today I braved the weather and other idiots to get to school. I knew I should have just stayed home and missed class because I know I would not have been the only one missing. They finally cancelled classes when i was 3/4 of the way there...but anyway. I wanted to tell you all a trick my mother has taught me for helping keep my windshield from freezing up on days like today. While keeping your defrost on high or close to high put your sun visors down. That will help keep some more direct heat on your windshield. I forgot about it today while I was trying to drive because I was so worried about driving, but for future ice and driving days, try it!

I am a very interested person when it comes to weather. I have always wondered, and I know you all will give me the right answers, what makes the difference in us receiving snow, freezing rain, or sleet. 

 

Thursday of last week it was below freezing and we got some snow and mostly sleet. Not to hard to clean up. This week we are getting anywhere from just rain to freezing rain. Luckily here in my neck of the woods we are just getting rain and have been all night long.

 

But I would really like to know what in the atmosphere makes the difference between the snow, sleet and freezing rain??

Hello everyone out there in MyFoxSTL land. I was watching the 5 o' clock news this evening and they did a story about Wal-Mart having sales for Christmas!!!! WHAT?? It is the second day of November. We still have Thanksgiving to worry about...Right? Seriously though, you see it everywhere already, Christmas lights have gone up on the streets of my town, the Christmas decorations are up at many stores around the area and in my opinion it stinks. Here is why, Our lives pass by us at a rapid speed as it is, and adding things earlier in the year is just going to make it all seem faster, in my opinion anyway. Now don't get me wrong I absolutely LOVE Thanksgiving and Christmas time. I feel like it makes me happy inside. So don't think I am a Scrooge or something because that I am not! I am just getting over Halloween waiting patiently for Thanksgiving, and then Christmas can come. Am I wrong about this?? We need to do something about these stores setting up Christmas stuff in OCTOBER!!! I'm not sure what we can do, but I’m sure someone out there will have a good idea! Let me know, maybe we can get Elliot Weiler to help??? Thanks for listening

I have to say I am very torn on this new issue! I am not a smoker myself but my parents once were. I am an avid bowler so therefor I spend a lot of time in bowling centers. There is a lot of smoking going on there! I believe that this new smoking ban is a good thing yet I don't think its right for anyone to tell us what to do when it comes to smoking! This is a free country right?    

That is why I am so torn, I believe it will help people like me who dont enjoy being around the smoke and hate the way we smell when we go home. Should I stop bowling just because of the smoke! I don't think so!   I also dont think it is fair for the smokers of Illinois, they have a right to smoke if they want just as I have a right not to smoke!  Its a really tought decision for me!

So everyday before anyone in my family leaves, we warm up our cars! My car locks are manual and I lock my car doors while warming up my car because I have a second set of keys that I use to get back into my car. What I dont understand is why would we be given a ticket for letting our cars warm up? Now im not a car mechanic but im pretty sure driving a car that has been sitting outside all night in the single digit temps is bad on your car. Well think about it, if the oil is cold its not going to run through the engine properly because it will be so much thicker than normal. If it doesn't flow properly then something might happen to the engine! Im sorry but the little amount of gas I use and the chances of getting a ticket are far less expsensive than having to rebuild an engine or get a new car! I think that if its possible to lock your vehicle while warming it up you should! I definalty dont understand how anyone could give us a ticket for letting a car warm up! That is just my opinoin! Whats yours???

Woo hoo the Blues won last night 4-1! They played a really good game! I am happy to see the Blues do have the ability to be a good team! We just need to get them to mesh better, So we can win lots more games like we did last night! It was really good to see them beat Colorado too! I like Coach Q, wish he was still with us, but you know what can you do?

Now before you all go and get mad at me, i just wanted to get your attention! So the reason I am wanting your attention is..... When driving, either in Illinois or Missouri, i always hear my fellow Illinoisians(lol) talk about how bad Missouri people drive, how crazy they are etc. So my question for everyone is...Do Missourians talk about Illinois drivers that way too? Just a question? Thanks for reading!

Hey So i know the Cardinals are playing and have made it to the World Series, and i stayed up till the last pitch was thrown in game 7! I love the Cards but i also love the Blues! And i have heard nothing about them! They have won some games guys come on lets get excited!!! lol well i hope the blues step it up and play as well as the cards are right now so that i will hears lots about the Blues come April!!!
