DENVER (AP) -- John McCain is airing a one-evening-only ad with a simple message for Barack Obama: "Job well done." The ad coincides with Obama's nomination acceptance speech. McCain congratulates Obama for his nomination. McCain recognizes the symbolism of a black man accepting the nomination on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s "I Have a Dream" speech. The ad will run Thursday on national cable television before and after Obama's address. McCain says: "Senator Obama, this is truly a good day for America. Too often the achievements of our opponents go unnoticed. So I wanted to stop and say, congratulations. How perfect that your nomination would come on this historic day. Tomorrow, we'll be back at it. But tonight Senator, job well done."

What do you think? Classy or suspect?

Thanks for blogging,

Corrina

I think it is wonderful. John McCain is a very classy guy. I am not at all surprised by this move. NOW WHEN WILL HE TELL US WHO HIS V.P. PICK WILL BE?

McCain spent camapign funds to actually put aside differences for a day to truely recognize American history being made! Not only did a minority in this country break through the wall of racism, but America did it by bringing ALL the people together, and the fact that America spent time looking at the first Woman AND the first Black person for the highest office in the land.... That goes far beyond just politics, and I'm sure the world watched with a smile.

Actually I would like to know how many leaders around the world called anyone in America to congradulate them....

Very classy of John McCain I just hope that he dont pick Mitt Romney as his VP.
But like I said before, regardless of what people may think of the Obamas I think Americans should be very proud. This day is historic. For the first time, there is a Black American who may actually become the next President of the United States. This shows that America has come a very long way and Blacks are very very proud of Barack Obama. He may not be the right man for the job BUT he did make it this far and he DID run a better campaign than Mitt Romney AND Jesse Jackson. Soon though it will be America's decision. So if Obama makes it into the White House and you didnt want him there then you have no one to blame but yourself. As a Black man, i am very happy for Barack Obama but that dont mean I will vote for him. But for now, Congrats Obama! Lets enjoy this historic moment. I know that King and all of those who have died for civil rights and those who are living during the civil rights moment and all the slaves who died for freedom are overjoyed and I am sure they would of loved to see this day.

If anyone in this campaign has truly brought change to the political scene, it's got to be Sen. McCain for this never before seen class act in politics.

I think he did that with all the best intentions and class but I'm sure the dems see this more as a chide or insult. As far as I am concerned, if I were on the fence for a decision, this would put me squarely on the McCain side. Don't misunderstand me here, I cannot and will not ever cast my vote for a liar so Obama and HRC were written off a long time ago.

I think McCain has class. I also wish Obama would say what Tiger Woods said when asked about his race, he said he had alot of different ethnic groups as ancestors but he considered himself an American. Obama is using the race card because his father was from Kenya. He does not mention his mother who from what I read was white.

Impressive. No matter what side of the aisle you are on, it was indeed an historic day. It is a day American's Republican, Democrat and anything inbetween should be proud of.

I think he has other motives for the ad... He is trying to show the american people he has class.... which he doesnt have ANY!!! He is trying to stem the tide of the Democrats!!! and now he faces a even more uphill battle!!! He would have been better off if he kept his mouth shut.

WHAT TIDE????

By ANY conventional thinking,, with 75% of the Media Focused on Obama,, his Anti American World "I'm a rock Star " Tour and his pick for VP,,HE should be 20 points ahead..Instead the MORE he does,,the MORE his polls drop..

About time McCain shows some class after all the negative ads and attacks that haven't worked.. Guess he had to change after that!

The ads have worked. The conservative core of the Republican party is energized more now than ever with his selection of Gov. Palin.

McCain has more than class. He now has a VP that will unite the conservatives and bring EVEN MORE WOMEN from the democratic party to the voting both for McCAIN-PALIN.

FlaNative - you're...I believe he's done on one side, time to flip him over! Of course, he could file a complaint with the EEOC if he doesn't get the job; citing that his black half was discriminated against.

Afelton - I have nothing to be proud of about a black becoming president; in fact that very statement raises the race flag up the pole, if you think about it. I just want a president that'll do the job, color or sex is a non-issue....unless, it's when Obama chooses to, as he has, to try and gain ground.
