Between Friends

Who they is I don't know, but whoever they are, they say that we have nine lives. Thank you, because at least six of mine have been used and most of these spares have really come in handy! Some have allowed me to do some really, really stupid things.

So, how many of your 9 lives have been used -- and how? Do you believe in this phenom or is it yet another silly furry tail? Ooops, I mean fairy tale.

This came to mind upon hearing that a close friend and her entourage were on the water during the horrendous lightning and storms that drove through our region over -- what could be called the worse -- Memorial Day weekend.

It's an exhilerating experience seeing a front come in over water. But if you're on the water at the same time it can be absolutely terrifying -- yet exciting! After all, what doesn't kill you makes you want to do it again.

Speaking of storms, maybe I'm just weird but there's something majical -- and dare I say it, erotic -- about intense thunderstorms with torrential wind, rain and hail. Except when the power goes out.

If you are a cat you have 9 lives...lol. I am not a cat and tho having the cheetah as your avatar is nice...it doesnt entail you to the same thing! lol...( dont know if entail is even a word....I liked it and it worked being tail and all...lol)
Now the other thing is majical is really magical....and storms are quite powerful. I love a good storm but its not erotic to me.
When I watch a storm all I can think of is the awesome power of God...my creator. And I think of his majesty...as the storm is majestic.
majestic vs magical ..hhmm....maybe that was what you were thinking. ( I am just giving you a hard time B....) ok...have a good night!

Rats, so 9 lives only applies to cats. I guess I am just plain lucky! Yes, entail is a word you clever cat you. lol

I think you're right -- majestic is the better word. Majic doesn't even exist.

The erotic aspect is 100% mental versus physical. I dunno it's just all that awesome energy and power. I like going out into the yard and watching and experiencing a storm come in from the south or west. What's odd is my neighbor feels the same way and when a storm is coming in, she's out there in her back yard and I am in mine. Until having to turn around and sprint for the door to avoid the downpour.

When I watch a storm I think of the power of nature and the scene in Forest Gump when Lt Dan says "you call this a storm?!" -- during his fit of rage with God. Love that scene

I used to love the storms. Last year, however, I lost power five times and one time, during the winter months, it was out for nearly one week. I literally put up my tent inside my kitchen to retain body heat at night. That was hell week thanks to a storm and so these days I am not so excited about incoming storms.

Sounds like Cheetah becomes a freak during storms. Interesting!!

I'm a thunderstorm freak! The one we had Sunday was great!

I don't mind losing power. There's something magical about playing cards or boardgames by candlelight. It's peaceful without the TV's and all the electronic noise and it brings the family together. We lost power for 4 days after the storms in '06. It was hot so we played in the hose or had water balloon fights; if it got too bad, we got in the car and went for a drive looking at all the storm damage.

Yep TTwister, I'm a storm freak.

Wacky: You're right! It is nice to have the quiet and is not really a big deal, all things considered. Losing power in the summer is okay except for having to grill everything in your freezer! But losing power in the winter is a different story. It gets dark too early and trying to read by candlelight sucks.

A good, killer storm is a great thing only when you and your loved ones and friends make it through it without damage to oneself and home/ business. But man, once it affects you personally or affects others whom you care about -- in a big way, like home or business destruction, injuries and death -- you look at them a bit differently.

And as a former EMT on a disaster/ crisis response team, when you come upon lifeless bodies of babies, children and adults, dogs and farm animals and other beings killed by the storm, and those horrible images return to mind when future dangerous storms roll in. So, ya, sometimes I do get freaked out. lol

Don't get me wrong, Cheetah, when a big one is brewing I'm praying for those in the path! Loss of life and home is always a tragedy and I'm not the type to forget that. Ever.

Well this last one that came through left me without power!! When that big Gust of wind blew through it was crazy madness!!

Keep the sun shining and the rain just go away!

Peace my friend!

Oh I know, Wacky that was not directed to you nor anyone. Just me talking...doing the blah blah blah.

Jana -- it sucks you lost power! I hope the power was restored prior to your daughter's 13th birthday just recently.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes -- I'd like to order sunshine only please. Seattle weather is better in Seattle where there is more to do outdoors and in the city, than around here when it's cloudy and rains all day.

Another thing I think about when people lose power in the summer here in our humid city, is the many, many elderly people who are living alone -- and the death-trap a hot and humid house quickly becomes, and so many homes lack adequate ventilation and what's worse, no one these days in their right mind would open all the windows and doors and leave them open at night, to keep the house as "cool" as possible, then you invite every criminal walking or driving by to enter your home.

So although power loss is nothing more than an inconvenience for me, I've older dogs that are just as affected by heat and humidty -- at grave risk for a high core body temp -- as an older adult. And I've an elderly parent and elderly friends and elderly clients, and so power outages do affect me more than I would have thought prior to writing this blog.
