Here's one for you paid for it.

Scenario:  Parents get divorced, and mom keeps the kids.  Dad is required to carry health insurance on the kids.  I've got no problem with that at all.

Now, here's the kicker.  The mom can then get on Medicaid, AND put the children on medicaid, making dad's insurance the secondary.  Now this I have a problem with.

If there is private insurance available, and the state is going to let covered children be on Medicaid anyway, the private insurance should be the primary.  Why should the taxpayers of Illinois pay for something I am already paying for.

Personally, I think that if kids are covered under private insurance, they shouldn't be part of the medicaid system at all.  This is abuse of the system in my eyes.

Maybe it's just me, I hate hate hate hate hate the thought of my kids being a burden on the taxpayers when I am fully capable of, and do, provide for them.

Yeah, I called it Polack Day.  I'm a Polack, so what.

This is the one day a year, I feel like we (the Polacks) can actually say something, so here it goes.

Ya know, we sit here, day after day, and relate ourselves with the White Caucasion crowd.  That's what we check on our job applications.  But how many other polacks see that look when an interviewer or anyone else tries to say our name?  I've seen it, I'm sure alot of people have seen it.  But what do we do, we generally laugh it off.  Hell, half the time, we have better Polish jokes than non-Polish people do.

So my question is, why do all of these other groups that have been persecuted through history get so much more consideration than we do?  Probably because we've accepted the stereotype and worked our asses off to overcome it.  No, we were "enslaved".  But we were scheduled for extermination.  Which one is worse?  I guess that's a matter of opinion.

Maybe if other "opressed" people put their nose to the grindstone and worked hard instead of bitching about how hard they have it because of their heritage, they might find the world a little easier to deal with.

I'm sure there are going to be alot of people who blast me for saying my people, the Polacks, have been just as persecuted throughout history as the blacks and the jews.

To the jews, I love you guys, I really do.  You guys were first on Hitler's list and we were second.  Actually, we were first, but Hitler figured out we weren't much of a challenge and left us till later.  But anyway, I can relate, and I do fell your pain.

To the blacks, well, I look back at your history and all I can say is, at least there was not mission to completely exterminate ya'll.  At least you were thought enough of to be kept around, though I'm not condoning slavery.  Be thankful you weren't labeled for extermination.

Not putting this under entertainment, because it doesn't belong there.  But every man, woman and child in America should kep a copy of this poem on them!  Hope it doesn't get cut off.  If it does I will add a comment with the rest.

THE HYPHEN

The Hyphen, Webster's Dictionary defines,
Is a symbol used to divide a
compound word or a single word.
So it seems to me that when a man calls himself
An "Afro-American," a "Mexican-American,"
"Italian-American," An "Irish-American,"
"Jewish-American,"
What he's sayin' is, "I'm a divided American."

Well, we all came from other places,
Different creeds and different races,
To form a nation...to become as one,
Yet look at the harm a line has done-
A simple little line, and yet
As divisive as a line can get.
A crooked cross the Nazis flew,
And the Russian hammer and sickle too-
Time bombs in the lives of Man;
But none of these could ever fan
The fames of hatred faster than
The Hyphen.

The Russian hammer built a wall
That locks men's hearts from freedom's call.
A crooked cross flew overhead
Above twenty million tragic dead-
Among them men from this great nation,
Who died for freedom's preservation.
A hyphen is a line that's small;
It can be a bridge or be a wall.
A bridge can save you lots of time;
A wall you always have to climb.
The road to liberty lies true.
The Hyphen's use is up to you.

Used as a bridge, it can span
All the differences of Man.
Being free in mind and soul
Should be our most important goal.
If you use The Hyphen as a wall,
You'll make your life mean...and small.
An American is a special breed,
Whose people came to her in need.
They came to her that they might find
A world where they'd have peace of mind.
Where men are equal...and something more-
Stand taller than they stood before.

So you be wise in your decision,
And that little line won't cause division.
Let's join hands with one another...
For in this land, each man's your brother.
United we stand...divided we fall.
WE'RE AMERICANS...and that says it all.

Ok, so today we were supposed to have a status hearing.  Of course, her lawyer postponed it, as usual.  But I found something else out interesting.  For those of you who don't know, I was stupid the first 4 years after the divorce and payed her directly instead of through the State of Illinois.  As it stands now with the state, they are telling me that I'm $44,000 in arrears.  That's all of the child support for the first four years, plus interest.  Since I've been paying through the state, they have been taking an extra $150/month towards the "arrearage."  They are also adding $300.00/month interest to my balance, so basically I'm still falling behind.  Keep in mind that I have cancelled checks, proof of transfers, receipts, etc. for all of that money.  It doesn't matter to the State of Illinois, I still have to pay it back.

Even if I get custody, I'll still have to pay that $44,000+ back to her, again.  Where is the justice in this country.  Now I can see how people turn homicidal in these situations.  I won't, because I'm the only one standing up to try and do the right thing for my kids, but wrong is wrong, and I'm sick of the government punishing me for trying to do the right thing.

Sorry, I had to rant.  It just makes me sick.  And the sad part, if I wouldn't have paid her directly, and given her all of the extra money I did, she would have done everything in her power to keep me from the kids as much as she could.  What a system.  What a country we live in.

Ok, so I realize that this doesn't qualify as "News", per se.  But I hope you read it to see how screwed up the legal system is in Illinois.  Hopefully, it will help anyone who goes through a divorce.

So, last week was our appointment for the kids to talk to the judge.  The GAL happened to be in the courthouse that day and talked to my lawyer.  The GAL told him "I really wanted to say that your client would be the best parent, but I just didn't have enough evidence."  My lawyer asked him if he would tell the judge that, and he said yes.  Background for those that don't know, the GAL report said that he couldn't find enough cause to change custody, but felt that I needed to be alot more involved in the kids' lives.  And that I would make a great custodial parent.

So, the judge talked to the kids.  My 9 year old begged the judge to let him come live with me.  My 7 year old said she loves us both and wants to live with everybody.  So, we're sitting in the courtroom, and the GAL walks in.  My lawyer said the GAL had something to add, but the judge wouldn't hear it.  He told the GAL that if he had something to say he should have put it in his report.

After that, the judge said he couldn't find any reason to change custody at this point either.  My son was completely devastated.  My lawyer tried to talk me into a deal where I would get more visitation, etc.  But after seeing my son react the way he did, I didn't feel like we could give up.  So, we are going to trial.  My lawyer says that we got them to concede alot with the deal they agreed to, but I can't with good conscience, give up without exhausting all options.  I look at it this way, with everything I have on her, if this judge still sides with her, then A) the legal system is even more screwed up than I thought, and B)  My kids will know, no matter what, that I tried every thing I possibly could to save them.

Also, even with all of the proof of child support payment I have, unless she agrees to let it go, I will have to repay it.  That's over $40,000 that I will have to pay again, not to mention the fact that the state of Illinois will continue to view me as being in default of child support.

The money doesn't bother me as much as the pain I see my kids going through.  But the best advice I can give anyone going through a divorce with kids, is DOCUMENT EVERYTHING!!!  NEVER pay her directly.  ALWAYS go through the state.  You have to follow the rules of the system, and here's the kicker, no one will tell you the rules.  If you can't afford a lawyer during your divorce, do your own research.  Don't let yourself or your kids get raked through the coals.

Anyway, this is my story.  It's not over.

I was involved is some really good discussions on blogs last Wednesday.  I just want to apologize for those in those blogs for disappearing.  The surgery I had Thursday knocked me down a heck of a lot more than I thought it would with some unexpected complications.

Everything's ok, but I just didn't want folks to think I bailed on those conversations intentionally.

Hope everyone had a great weekend.

The United States Senate is considering a bill which would create a path of citizenship for over 12 Million Illegals in this country.

I urge everyone to visit the United States Senate Web site and send a message to our Senators that we DO NOT WANT this legislation.  Urge them to pressure the Justice Department to enforce the current immigration rules.

Where is the guy who will: (these are just a few of my thoughts, not all inclusive by any means)

Secure the borders and fight illegal immigration tooth and nail.Aggressively pursue illegal immigrants.  Arm state and local authorities with the tools needed to identify and detain illegals.  Levee federal fines against any employer found to be employing illegals.   Aggressively pursue the security of both the Northern and Southern border

Balance the budget and begin to pay down the debt by denouncing overspending with earmarks and stop wasting money unnecessarily.  Create a fair and balanced taxation system.  I would prefer a graduated flat tax from 10 – 30% on income tiers as we have now, starting with incomes from $25,000 / year and stair stepping from there.  Elimination of deductions for everything except retirement fund contributions, which will still be capped.

Fix Social Security.  Raise the maximum income contribution level to the first $1,000,000.   Protect social security money from being touched for anything else.

Repeal free trade agreements.  Reevaluate all trade agreements.

Cut foreign aid across the board.  This country is in severe debt.  We cannot fund the rest of the world too.

Support laws banning lobbyists from Capitol Hill.  If congressmen and women need lobbyists to tell them how to vote, they can look no further than their home district or state…they are called the People who Elected them.

Leave abortion alone.  It is a decision that is between the woman who decides to have an abortion and God, no one else.  Imagine the ramifications of NOT having abortion!

Legalize Marijuana, and tax the crap out of it.

Get out of Iraq.  Bring all of the surrounding countries together and assist them politically in stabilizing the region.  Realize that this is a holy war that we CANNOT win.

Reinforce the notion of separation of church and state.  Acknowledge that this is a free society where people can choose to live how they want to live as long as they obey the law, regardless of religious affiliation.

Leave law abiding citizen’s who own guns alone.  Go after those who black market guns.

Reduce the power of the FCC.  In a so called free society, the only people who should be telling us what to watch and listen to are our parents.

Reduce the department of Education.  They aren’t doing a whole lot of good anyway.

Pay down the debt.

Pay down the debt.

Keep our military at an acceptable level of readiness to protect our nation and it’s citizens.

These are just a few of my thoughts.  I have a whole bunch more.

I, for one, am happy that these officers were let off.  A little story.  Many years ago, when I was 17, I and a friend of mine did something really dumb.  We were drunk, and he stole a car.  I was with him, and even though I didn't know it was stolen, well, anyway, I get off the point.  The point is, we ran from the police.  When they caught us, they beat the living snot out of us.  Officially, we "fell down the hill" when we tried to run, but they beat the snot out of us.

When I told my dad (who I had to call to bail me out), what the police did, you know what he told me??? He said "GOOD, your stupid @#% deserved it".  That experience has stuck with me, and you know what, I DID deserve it.  And I hope that if my kid ever does anything that stupid, they beat the snot out of him to.  It definitely taught me a lesson.

An 8 year old boy was suspended from school in Michigan for 6 days for bringing a pocket knife to school, but he apprently threatened one of his tormenters/bullies with the knife.  Parents of other children at the school are outraged that this child might be allowed to return to the school.

Let me start by saying that, yes, this is a terrible thing that this child brought this knife to school, and someone could have gotten hurt very badly.  But I think a point is being lost here.  Not once in the article did I hear anyone say that the boy who had tormented/bullied this child shared in the responsibility.  Not once did I see the parents of this bully stand up and say "Hey, sorry, we're idiots and we raised a mean kid.  We share in the responsibility as well."

I really feel for this kid.  Now, I will say that I'm not a big believer in all this have to make our kids feel good all the time stuff.  I'm all for dodgeball, and not lying to your child by telling him/her he's great at something when he's obviously not.  But I do feel for him because he was obviously scared to death of going to school, as so many children are.  Why is THAT issue not being addressed?  Why isn't the bully and the bully's parents being held accountable for this?

I hope I'm dead before I have grandchildren.  I can't even begin to imagine the stupidity that will dominate their lives.

Well, where the hell is the protection for MY kids?  I filed my petition for cutody 9 months ago.  9 MONTHS!!!  The law has allowed her to, time and time, continue the case so I cannot get her in court.  She is continually emotionally abusing my children and there isn't a thing I can do about.  I'm doing all I can, or so my lawyer tells me.  But because of Illinois' great laws to take care of children, my ex-wife can just arbitrarily opt out of going to court for 1 bogus reason after another.  All the while, my children continue to suffer.

I have spent 9 months, and thousands upon thousands of dollars dealing with this to do what is best to protect my children.  The money is out.  Done, gone.  I have no more.  If my lawyer asks me for more money, this whole thing is over.  I'll have to go it alone, and we all know how well that will turn out.

The state of Illinois claims to have prioritized children.  Sounds good come election time, but it doesn't mean squat in the real world.

Sorry about the personal rant.  But I've reached my breaking point with this.  And for the first time since this has started, I feel like I'm fighting a loosing battle and there is no hope for my kids.

I've read many posts on this. I've done quite a bit of research into this topics. Quite honestly, I'm not sure what to think. Would a ban on handguns reduce gun violence? Realistically, I would have to say the answer is yes, it would. But would it reduce violence as a whole? I seriously doubt it.

I do not believe that gun violence cannot be addressed as a whole without looking at several other things as well. I believe that something as horrific as Columbine and the VT incidents, cannot be considered in this debate. Why? These killers were highly motivated. If they were not able to obtain guns, what lengths would they have gone too? It is quite conceivable that Columbine and buildings on VT would have been decimated by bombs of some kind, and the death tolls even higher were these killers not to have guns.

That being said, I do not believe that we can address gun violence without addressing major criminal entities. The problem of gangs across the country must be addressed. I'm talking about all criminal gangs from the Crip and Blood type gangs to Hell's Angel's type gangs. Any organization that thrives and promotes violent criminal activity must be taken head on.

Focus of government needs to be retracted from foreign countries and brought back home. It is time for a war on violent gangs in the United States. Banning guns will NOT stop the violence. We must stop the violence at it's core, and this is the best place to start.

I see that several news outlets are airing the video that the young man who committed the VT murders sent to NBC.  These media clowns have no idea that this is exactly what this psycho wanted.  And they proved, unequivocably (sp?), to any other whack job looking for 15 minutes of fame, that he/she will get it.

This man did this for the attention.  He had every intention of dying and sent that tape to further his immortalization.  Thanks to the media for giving that to him.

The next time this happens, every media outlet in the country that aired this video will share in the blame.

These nut jobs want their 15 minutes of fame, and yet again, it is proven that they WILL get it.

 How sick!!!!

1)  Repeal NAFTA.  This has been one of the biggest detriments to the USA that has ever been.  This has been the cause of big business moving operations overseas.  Cheaper labor!

2)  Eliminate lobbyists from Washington.  While there are lobbyist that lobby for good, most are big business lobbyists.  Eliminating lobbying from Washington will force politicians to focus on issues that are important to their voters, not the folks with the most money.

These two things at the core will help put America right again.  Alas, it will never happen.  Why?  Because to change it, the politicians need to vote on it.  And they will NEVER vote on loosing money in their pocket!  Republican OR Democrat!

Custody case is over. Let me self get screwed over by the lawyers so the kids have to stay with her for now. With any luck, I can get them before they start high school so I can get them back on track and not watch them become a statistic.
