Yeah, I called it Polack Day.  I'm a Polack, so what.

This is the one day a year, I feel like we (the Polacks) can actually say something, so here it goes.

Ya know, we sit here, day after day, and relate ourselves with the White Caucasion crowd.  That's what we check on our job applications.  But how many other polacks see that look when an interviewer or anyone else tries to say our name?  I've seen it, I'm sure alot of people have seen it.  But what do we do, we generally laugh it off.  Hell, half the time, we have better Polish jokes than non-Polish people do.

So my question is, why do all of these other groups that have been persecuted through history get so much more consideration than we do?  Probably because we've accepted the stereotype and worked our asses off to overcome it.  No, we were "enslaved".  But we were scheduled for extermination.  Which one is worse?  I guess that's a matter of opinion.

Maybe if other "opressed" people put their nose to the grindstone and worked hard instead of bitching about how hard they have it because of their heritage, they might find the world a little easier to deal with.

Probably every "group" except the white, American male, has been "oppressed" at some time or another.

It's not even about that at thsi point. It's simply about people wanting to blame someone else for their failures. A person who won't take personal responsibility for their own life is that type of pathetic person regardless of where they came from or what nationality or race they are.

As a culture (PEOPLE) did those people rise above and better their lives using what was available. The Bosnian culture (PEOPLE) seem to use what this country offers and turned it into strength. I do not hear much about them. Hard working cultures (PEOPLE) do not make headlines everyday?

Ok I'm of German decent and I don't know anyone who can pronounce my name correctly. So friggn what! If you want to get technical I am not the blonde haired, blue eyed German. So I would probably have been percecuted if I lived in Germany during WWII,and sent to the gas chamber, but i'm not complaining. So I guess my point would be, because you brought it up. You are no better then anyone else who complains of percecution because you are doing in now. jmo

I am Polish, Irish and about 5 other nationalities. My maiden name is polish and NO ONE could pronounce, or spell my name and I was at the end of the alphabet.

I married and now I have a last name that is a common Italian name in the middle of the alphabet. Solved my problem!!

I always like Max Gail's character on The Barney Miller Show, When ever they asked his name they would say 'How do spell that?' His response was 'Just like it sounds, Wojohowitz.'

Custody case is over. Let me self get screwed over by the lawyers so the kids have to stay with her for now. With any luck, I can get them before they start high school so I can get them back on track and not watch them become a statistic.
