I don't know what the heck is wrong with the planet this week, but for crap's sake! Stop the ride! I want off!

Britney checks into rehab and then out in 24 hours (maybe), shaves her head, gets a tattoo. I'm not one to judge, but isn't she in the middle of a custody battle? Where is her family? Where are the "no" people? Sheesh!

Some guy on the board of trustees at St. Louis Community College hired his friend WITH NO POLITICAL EXPERIENCE to head up a campaign to get Prop EJ passed, shoots $570,000 dollars of the college's money his way, starts a non-profit corporation with his father and brother without the college's knowledge and then spends the $13,000 left in the coffers on RETAINING HIS OWN LAWYER when the poo starts to hit the fan AND ALMOST A YEAR LATER IS STILL ON THE BOARD? And his friend, Earp is thinking about throwing HIS hat into the ring in the next round of trustee elections? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

The couple that kept their mentally handicapped kids in cages get TWO YEARS for what they did? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Jose Padilla wants to be declared mentally unfit for trial because his incarceration has traumatized him? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

People from the St. Louis City School Board won't step down when they have completely and utterly FAILED the children (and future) of the city? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

WHAT IS GOING ON?

My brain is melting and I am going back to bed.

You made me laugh out loud with this one! Are you up yet?

I think the same way you do about many of the news stories. I don't know what's going on with the stars unless I read it here or catch it on the fly. News about them isn't real news, to me. I want to hear about local people or people in the world who have a real life and are either doing something worthwhile or having real problems, not hollywood problems. Our society focuses way too much on stars of all kinds. We should focus on someone in our neighborhood or area that needs help or a kind word or deed. Or on just getting to know our neighbors.

LOL... yeah, I finally woke up. Things are a tad out of control with the focus on that, and I've gone out of my way to get to know my neighbors, who are a great bunch of people. It amazes me how many people no longer see that as a priority.

Have you visited New Town at St. Charles at all? I totally want to move there.

Didn't know about New Town at St. Charles. Thanks for the info. We'll have a look next time we're over that way. What do you like about it?

There was an article about it in the Riverfront Times where they said it was like a cult, and you know what? It kinda is. It's out by my husband's work and we've been visiting since before they built the first house.

Basically, it's a neighborhood like back in the old days. It's a planned community with all sorts of stuff in walking distance. They designed stuff like the porch height so that if you're sitting on your porch, you're at eye level with people walking by.

You visit, and there are kids actually outside playing. There are groups of adults roaming around. There's lots of activities for kids.

What I like is if you are buying a place there, you are pretty much buying into a package. You WANT to know your neighbors. You WANT to be involved. You should totally drive around and check it out, see some of the model homes and brownstones. It sounds crazy as I'm talking about it, but it's interesting to say the least.
